Who will be the 1st (Pun intended)
Exactly who will be the first the own the first 1 in the US? And when?
e90post just had a feature thread about the first US M3 owner taking delivery of his car. |

I'm guessing someone who is in NJ or SC will be the first. I'm just hoping for Friday sometime

Not any more.
My CA told me that it BMW NA is being tight lipped about when they are actually releasing these cars. Juat last week my CA was told the 1ers would be delivered with the M3s, whihc they were not. When he asks about teh 1ers, there's no definitive word as to when to expect them in. He thinks they might be delivered today, but they still will have to wait for the paperwork for each car to be delivered, which is usually two days later... which they need for registration purposes. |

Back in 04 VW issued numbered posters to everyone who bought a R32. I got poster #1 and #14. I got two for some reason. I still have the poster framed. I wasn't the first but pretty close. I don't care what number I am as long as I get the car sometime next week!

Right on Peppe.. I have poster 1,059 hanging in my office. Obviously no rhyme or reason between car number and poster number, since I took delivery on 2/9/04. But still a great poster. Hopefully our 1series coffee table books will be numbered.

I'll most likely be one of the LAST first production cars to be delivered. What with the car going to SC instead of the West Coast and the transportation issues. It has been assigned to the trucker but with no estimated delivery date to the dealer.

All this chatter drove me to phone my sales guy, and he basically gave me the telephonic version of a shrug. He has no clue what to expect, just said, well it's waiting up there at the dock, we just have to wait for the official release... but no hint that he thought that would be the 22nd, earlier, or later.

I feel pretty confident people will start getting their cars this Friday.
The Greensboro dealership I ordered from told me I can pick up my car Friday. When I ask the Charlotte dealership when they would get theirs (I live in Charlotte so was hoping to sneak a test drive before mine arrived in Greensboro) they initially kept saying the 22nd - but just today said they will be getting their 1ers tomorrow or Friday. |

I'm almost tempted to call my CA and complain, "Hey the guys in NC are getting their cars this week, why not us." However since I suspect your dealers are either ignorant of or simply ignoring BMW NA protocol, I wouldn't want to spoil the waters...

Many of us on the Left Coast won't be driving our hot-rods till month's end. You lucky few, please, be sure to report your experiences.
