BMW Compadre
So I was driving home today after a late night shift feeling tired and generally crap. I notice a gold E46 M3 'vert close to me in the light traffic but I wasn't even in the mood to check out the car and driver like I normally would.
I pass him as we turn into a road lined with about 5 consecutive double lane roundabouts and I notice him sticking to my rear quarter for most of the way. I was driving about 55 (50 zone) and signaling out of each roundabout (old habits die hard) until the traffic lights at the end of the road. People were passing me left, right and centre as the road is actually quite wide, probably better suited to a 70 limit. The M3 pulls up next to me as I stop at the red light, and I take a glance to my left for the first time. The man driving was pointing frantically downwards with his finger. My first reaction was that a tyre had blown on my one week old baby. No way. Checked the instrument panel, no run flat indicator. I turned to look at him again and opened my passenger window. M3: "Hey, just wanted to tell you that you're a really great driver." Me: (surprised) "oh, thanks." M3: "I see too many lunatics with P plates stuck to their boots and it's pleasing to see one drive safely." Me: "Haha thank you... " M3: "especially in a car like yours, that the 1 coupe?" Me: "Yeh it is, is that an M3?" M3: "Sure is." Me: "Very nice car" M3: "Not as nice as yours" At that moment the light turned green. He gave a curt nod before turning off in a different direction. I was no longer felt tired or shit. The nice man in the M3 had made my day

Nicely done
I'm only a couple of years off my P's. I hated it when i was on them because people wouldn't trust you, and I would always hear news about some P-plater in Macquarie Fields get caught in a rice-box doing 150km/h; ruined it for the drivers who are actually safe on their P's such as you. I give you a |

The car is meant to drive hard man!!!! .... but in a safe venue. HIT THE RACE TRACK MAN (when you have run in the car!).
Thumbs up on your driving.

The story would have been better if you'd smoked it off the lights and crashed into a kebab shop..

I had a very similar story happen to me by a brand new owner of an AW E92 M3. I had only had my car for a couple months and I had been cruising with my mate and he was making the comments while we cruising at around 50km/hr. Positive comments always make my day... it takes a lot of effort to go out of your way to say someone has a nice car, usually people just look or stare but to say something is something else. There seems to be a lot of respect for our 135i's!! Man i love this car!

I had 2 guys about 20 years old roll up next to me in Sans Souci in a plumbing truck about a month ago. They waved and said it was a beautiful car and sounded really clean!
Not bad for a couple of young blokes shoving around in a shit-kicker! |

Had my bit of BMW comraderie today. I was cruising along the freeway when a grey E92 325i pulls alongside and hoots. Apart from crapping myself I see this bloke pointing at my car and giving the thumbs up. Nice to see! I once was "circled" by an E46 M3...bloke pulled alongside the portside for a few seconds, slowed, pulled in behind for a few seconds, then came alongside starboard before disappearing into the distance. I had takeaway on the passenger seat so I couldn't play....

Yeh, there's no point being a total hoon on public roads while you put yourself and others in danger. I'm pretty sure the cops will be very harsh if they catch a P plater with an exemption for a high powered car speeding. Takahashi, I'll be looking forward to seeing you on the track sometime
