does the 335i also have the same deep cycle "regenerative braking" system as the 1er? This is the biggest battery I've ever seen not mounted on something painted John Deere green.

In addition to having that fat battery, there is supposedly ballast weight in the back bumper. If you are looking at losing weight, that might be the first place to start.
What do you think the damage would be to the handling by shifting the weight to the front of the car? |

the 135i is the first car to have regenerative braking. 335i does not have this type of system yet.

It has the same size battery, and I'm pretty sure I've read that it DOES have the same regen system. I looked around a little but couldn't find a link to the info though. |

I cant see the point of wasting $150+ on an Odyssey battery that weighs 25 lbs instead of 52, unless the stock one crapped out down the road. 27 lbs is pretty insignificant.
I'd get the 680MJT anyway...only ~15 lbs! |

I'm not sure of any cheaper way to loose 25lbs without hurting any of the cars functionality though. It's really a pretty good improvement for the money.

CF hood, sunroof delete, CF trunk, lightweight wheels/tires, lightweight battery, lightweight seats, etc. all could add up and drop the car close to the 3K mark. All of those small little things add up. |

I usually get lightweight batterys but on this one might have to keep the stock for its weight distribution. its already 52%-48%

I think removing the trim weight could produce more oversteer. Stock, the 135 has 52.3/47.7 distribution (tad nose heavy).
I would not mind at all running a CF front hood. And never filling the windshield washer more than 1/2.

Hopefully there are no problems with the lightweight battery. The oil pump keeps working right after the engine shut off to cool down the turbos. It's on for about 1-10 minutes depending on how hot the oil temps are. This consumes a considerable amount of power so just watch out with the new battery...

The electric pump on the 135i is much larger due to being the main pump.. so I agree with having to test and make sure the smaller battery is good enough. Hopefully, it doesn't run at full speed after shutdown, so the current draw will be less.
