Hard Wire Constant Power Question

Does the car kill the power to the fuse box if enough time passes? I hard wired a dash cam and plugged the power directly into the fuse box but occasionally when I get in my car, the camera turns on, meaning it was off. I'm not sure if it's the camera or my car. My camera is supposed to be on all the time to record motion.

Depends on which fuse socket you used.

Grab a VOM(meter) and test out the circuit. Let the car go to sleep. My money is its your dash camera - it might too have a sleep function.

Sleepmode isn't usefull. It depends on the car configuration. If e.g. sat nav is installed, also clamp 30g-f is installed. This one has a delayed accessory power of about one hour.

When I wired up my dash camera... I used one of those micro fuses at the top center of the fuse box(blue and yellow fuses). I used an add a circuit fuse jumper to gain a switched power supply. I used the torx screw for the ground. Hope this helps.

Depends on options. Does your car have IBS? The cable on the negative battery cable at the battery has a large black box attached.

I have an add a fuse thing, but it's the regular size fuse. I put it in fuse 85 where it says "start/stop." We'll see if that stays on while the car is asleep.

Also, the power gets interrupted when I start the car. Kind of annoying, but I can live with it I guess.

So the fuse I used is constant and doesn't sleep. Woohoo! But power is still interrupted by starting the car. What if I go directly to the battery? Just kind of annoying but I'm just happy I have constant power. Now I need to return my cam and get a cam with ACTUAL motion sensing. This one lied to me.

What it does is monitor amperage when the car is off. It will shut off main relays temporarily to kill power to stop the car from drawing too much amperage.
The E82/E88 should only draw about 40mA. Make sure you camera won't draw too much otherwise all this will work your doing will be for nothing, if you have IBS on the ground cable at the battery

Is this it?

So far it doesn't seem to care that it's always on.
