Code 002A82 - DME: Vanos intake + Clearing VANOS adaptations
Hi all,
Hope someone can provide some education here! I've recently been throwing the following codes at low RPM, low throttle, taking off from a complete stop: 003100 - DME: Boost-pressure control, deactivation 002A82 - DME: Vanos intake (+ vanos exhaust code) I bought new VANOS solenoids and replaced both at the same time. Post install of new solenoids, I continued to get the two codes above but NOT the vanos exhaust code. A local shop swapped intake & exhaust solenoids, but the code continued to throw on the intake. Yesterday I decided to clean VANOS adaptations. Low and behold, after doing so I get the following: 002A87 - DME: Exhaust VANOS, mechanism 003100 - DME: Boost-pressure control, deactivation So I was really hoping someone could explain how even after swapping the solenoids, the issue stayed on intake until vanos adaptations were cleared, then it moved to exhaust. Appreciate any insight! Cheers, Jay |

Probably a long shot, but make sure the connectors are not switched for the solenoids…
I was chasing the same codes… I swapped just about everything and come to find out I switched the connectors for the solenoids by accident… Again, probably a long shot! |

If you haven't already, check your oil filter cap, and verify that the "cage" is still there. (number 2 in the below image) These tend to get accidentally thrown away with the old filter. This can cause low oil pressure and lead to vanos codes.

I've been mentally preparing myself for this... I think I've suspected since day dot this was going to end up being the root cause. Putting in a new clutch next weekend so whilst I'm at it I'll check the ledges as I'm fairly sure they're still running the metal seals.
Appreciate the advice! |

Thanks for this! The cage/basket is still there and appears intact. I replaced the o-ring on it when I did my oil filter/oil change 100km ago. The only thing I didn't do is torque the oil filter housing cap to spec as I didn't have the correct tool to do so, so it was just done up "FT"...
