It's over!

We just hit the road after the closing banquet/awards ceremony at Tire Rack in lovely South Bend, Indiana.

We left Road America yesterday pm in pretty good shape having run 29th in the am and 25th in the pm. We were seing speeds above 140 mph on the straights and beat the Miata in both events. That gave us an insurmountable class lead going into the final event -- this am's dry skid pad at Tire Rack. It also moved us up to 22nd overall.

At Road America, we were visited by 1Addict Mike Clements in his very nicely prepared and pristine AW 1M. Would have been nice to borrow his racing slicks for the pm session, but that would have resulted in our being disqualified from the event.

On this morning's dry skid pad event, we finished 27th overall. This moved us up one more spot, so we finished the 2012 One Lap of America with a class win and 21st overall.

Our very good friends with whom we drove the transits and shared paddock space finished 18th in their E92 M3. Just to give you a sense of the grouping, a 2011 Nissan GTR finished 19th, followed by a 2009 Dodge Viper ACR (20th), my 1M (21st), a 2012 Audi TT RS (22nd), and a 2007 Corvette Z06 (23rd).

The 1M ran flawlessly with nary a hiccup. Over the 4,200 miles that we've driven so far, we've averaged 21.7 mpg (that includes transits, time idling on the grid and running on track).

I'm already thinking about the next round of modifications to ensure we're able to defend our class title and finish in the top 20 in next year's event!

Thanks guys!

The Leh Keen driven 2010 TopSpeed Motorsports GTR came in first. The car owner, Doug Wilks, actually drove the final three events 'cause Leh had to get to NJMP to drive in this weekend's GrandAm race.

Mike Renner driving the 2013 BMW M5 finished 12th overall.

I'm thinking about some aero and lightening for next year.

One lap at Road America

I took lots of pictures of Neil and Woody and their car at Road America yesterday. I'll get them posted early next week. I've got one more day at the NARRA event at Road America and them I'll work on getting some of the photos posted.

Highest speed I saw at Road America today was 148 just before braking for turn 1.

Catesby Jones' GTR ran that wing. A real trip, but don't think I'm ready to drop around $8G on that piece!

Unfortunately, Catesby -- who supposedly was seeing something around 1,000 hp at the wheels and was running in second place -- dropped out after Hastings with tranny problems.

What?

First off if I didnt much of suspension mods than I would inherently think that he was a better driver no?

Second of all where did he say he had suspension mods?

Aside from this guy being pedantic congrats on the result again. Do you have any info as to why that CTS went over the retaining wall?

Here it is, but posted in the suspension sub forum, so perhaps you missed it.

Wait wait wait wait wait...

That guy got up on me for not noticing a 1M suspension subforum thread from November?

LOL

Thanks for the link man. Thanks for being cool headed and not quick to jump on someone for a stupid reason.

Id still really like to know how that caddy managed to jump the retaining wall though.

Very talented driver with extensive racing experience, primarily in Europe. He got to T8 at Road America and the pedal went to the floor.
