Weird sound on engine shutdown?
Anyone else have this really weird sound when then turn there n54 off? I have no idea what it is... But BWM gave me the OKAY for my inspection T_T

Flywheel ??? what rattles in a flywheel..... its not like he had the clutch depressed or anything????
If anything i would say its the wastegates..

Okay to clarify im talking about the cat moan at 16 seconds. The noise before it is not "Normal" that is waste gate actuator arm and it piss's me off, but hasn't completely broken my turbos yet lol....

OK.. I thought we were talking about the wastegates.. so we are clear, the first noise is waste gates and the second noise is the unknown. ( the sharp farting noise)
It sounds to me as though that is resonance thru one of the charge pipes when the engine / wastegates close open / rattle upon engine off.. I bet if you are under the hood while someon else turns the car off, and you feel around, you will find the suspect pipe with the resonance in it. thats my guess. and for what it is worth, it is not the flywheel... it stopped spinning already prior to the engine noise that we are talking about.

Why not press the clutch in (to the floor) and turn off the engine. Then you will know IF that noise is from the flywheel or from the engine area. Its reall hard to tell with your video and mic noise. I would suggest making a few starts and stops with the engine in one video. But even then its hard to diagnose a car via the internet.
