i hate the phone really bad (remember, this is a V3c. it's slower than DOOM 3 running on a 286 with Half-Life 2 minimized on the background. there is literally, and i mean LITERALLY, a 6-second lag after you press the menu button for the menu to actually show up. and it takes 4-seconds to exit the menu. it's just ridiculously slow! i've never seen anything so slow since my turtle broke her 3 legs...
Wow. I also have a Verizon Razr, and I don't have any of the problems with the phone being slow like you described. The menu takes just over a second to load, and it exits in less than a second. Maybe you need to get a new phone, or a firmware upgrade or something. I ordered my Razr directly from Verizon on virtually the first day they went on sale.

I don't care for the placement of the menu button, but it isn't that hard to use. I have pretty big fingers too. When I am playing a game on it, like Collapse, I often hit the wrong button. I was unable to play Ms. PacMan like I could on my previous Motorola flip phone.

You might want to have a search or ask a question on Howard Forums (Motorola). Howard Forums is an excellent repository of knowledge for all types of mobile phone.

If you have the phone paired correctly try pressing the "voice command" button on the steering wheel and say "help". By doing so you will hear a list of voice commands that can be used.

Try "Dial Number". To dial contacts by name, I think you have to teach the car the names or something.

Try "Save Name"

marzapan81, you don't say if you have i-drive or not.

You should be able to dial by number with the command "Dial Number" as long as you have paired sucessfully.

With i-drive you need the phone book to have sucessfully transferred in order to dial by name. Without i-drive you have to build a phonebook in the car. Neither system uses voice tags from the phone.

WHat my slaes guys says

Forgot to say, no i-drive. The phonebook displayes on the radio screen and is usable by using the radio buttons. But when using the voice commands i get a "there is no phonebook " response. I asked my sales guy . he told me it was because the SLVR has not yet been approved by BMW which is why the voice commands dont work. But once offical approved it will work.

That is a crap answer by a SA that wasn't interested in investigating your problem. The phonebook is in your car since you can scroll it and dial a contact that way.

You can just dial random names from the phonebook unless you create voice entries. Have you tried the command "save name" ?

No i-drive mans that you have to build a phonebook in the car.

you have to add names to the voice phonebook before you can use it - it is not the same as your regular phonebook.

start with save name - same a name and number then say dial name and it will ask you to speak the name - confirm it - then say dial

you can also say dial number - and it will ask for the number - try to say the number quickly or it will start confirming the number back to you before you have finished....

I just ordered a RAZR black V3...it's on BMWUSA's list of recently validated mobiles for the bluetooth. Will post if I have any issues with it (neither the phone nor my E90 have arrived yet but will probably have both by the end of next week...)
