Are there variations in regulations/specifications between European countries?

Well, you can forget all that. The new car is fitted with a turbocharged straight six. Turbocharging? In an M car? That’s like putting gravy on an ice cream.

Indeed that would be a fine thing to do. Have never been to Belgium and yet it is so easy from here now!

It's nearly time to replace my ten year old M Coupe, so Euro Delivery and a trip through Belgium is called for! Cheers.
Roger that!

1M, Euro delivery, excellent beer, the autobahn, excellent beer, the ring, the moutain passes.

My 1st trip to Germany is coming next summer!

Due to EU type approval, regulations are consistent within the EU. Specifications only vary in a way that certain countries have more equipment standard than others (e.g. leather vs cloth).

I agree with others here that I'd like to see a unified world or at least major markets standard for many of these business requirements. I would expect that would reduce costs/prices.

Anyone have any idea when the next reveal is?

I'm anxious to see more, and hear from Scott if there will or won't be a Monte Carlo Blue offering.

Orange stitching isn't a real problem for me (even in a blue car), but I think if they really want to have some colorful stitching, why not sticking with the M-colors as they did for the M3 streering wheel? :-)

Garage List
This is excerpt from an email I got from BMW CCA Foundation today.

"As more information on this incredible machine becomes available, it looks as though this 1 will be a real winner. This is the latest information we have on the new 1 Series M Coupé:

•336 hp/332 lb-ft biturbo 3.0 liter, 24v inline 6
•ZF 6 speed manual
•245/35 ZR19 front, 265/35 ZR19 rear
•Wider track (1.2"F, 1.6"R) and lower (0.4")
•M Sport suspension setup with M Drive button
•4-tip exhaust with fast heating catalyst
•0-62 mph - 4.7 sec (est)
•Est. fuel economy - 17/24 mpg (city/hwy)
The suspension, steering and brakes have been engineered to make this 1 a true M, and word has it that the 1 series M is quicker around the Nurburgring than the stock E46 M3."

If this is a repost...I apologize, but I haven't seen this here.

Does anyone know if the 6 speed transmission in the 1M is the unit from the M3 or the same as currently in the 135i? What are the differences? How about clutch and flywheel? Anyone know or have an idea?

I thought the rumors were M3 driveline. To me meaning 6-speed and LSD

Im really not happy with the above figures!

When i placed my order i said in my head that for me to actually take delivery it would have to be at least 350hp

I will be happy if they just used turbos that aren't TD03s and addressed any high-rpm torque issues. I believe there was improvement to be made to the head, and a more aggressive set of cams would be awesome.

Agreed. You are pretty much talking about getting the BMW power kit and make similar figures. Slap the M3 suspension bits, a wider body, and there you have your M1.

In a way, I appreciate BMW revealing the M1 in the various stages of development (as opposed to doing secret camouflage testing and opting for an all-information release during a major auto show), but the more news comes along with time, the more anti-climactic (and perhaps disappointing given the built up expactations) the actual release is shaping to become.

I agree, it's more of a 135i Clubsport than what we've come to know as an ///M. But, still the most attractive car at its price for me. Unless I can find a CPO ///M3 that has been lovingly maintained for around $45.

This is quite a bit lower than a 135, right? If so, wouldn't that indicate a more aggressive gearing ratio, like the gearing from an M3 and not the 135?

I was wondering the same thing, 2011 with the n55 is not available on bmwusa but the 2010 with I think the n54 was rated 18/25 so only 1 MPG difference

Oh, I thought it was more than that. So maybe slightly more aggressive gearing, somewhere between the 135 and M3.
