Sounds like he is painting it. Hopefully that's the case for the car's sake

Leaving the vents CF always seems to be a nice compromise.

Will paint to match in and out, no CF showing. I want functionality and something which is not easily noticeable.
I'll post pics when painted.
Cheers

It looks like the hood might not be closed but either way the hood looks sick, is it double or single sided?

Just to answer the question...there are no issues w the fitment or the site lines or the closing of the hood.

Here is a pic of the hood painted, CF vents, and installed and before we installed hood pins or other elements.

Fits great, looks great, works great, and is highly functional.

If ur worried about cost I don't think this mod is for you sir. It will def cost you an arm and a leg. Mods aren't for everyone as you and I know but for those who can afford good for them.

the 1er's hood is only latched at one point in the center. At speed air gets undernath the hood by the lights and the hood lifts slightly. The pins keep the hood down an secure

If I was going for that I wouldnt be a pansy for cost obviously since I wouldnt be cheaping on some ebay hood, but if I could get the paint process done for less that would be best..I dont wanna just hand out 2 grand to some shop n say "ah well, its an expensive mod anyways, screw it"

Sorry um, I thought the pins were those ricey lookin things you drilled onto the outside of the hood to lift it up?? Are you speakin of a different kind of pin, cuz those I never knew had anything to do with latching the hood..

And wtf is this shit about air lifting the hood??? Is this specific to just the Vorst CF hood or the 1er hood in general cuz I have NEVER read or seen anything about this at all..

I would hope one would do some research before going to any shop. Regardless, my point is, if you are going to spend the money on the hood, most would prefer to paint it and have it fitted so the cost would add on. Either way you look it, its a costly mod... I certainty wouldn't recommend anyone to MACCO to get it painted to save a few $$$

Look at the Brracing 135i See those black things? They are hood pins.

The picture under that is of a 135i is Oz that was doing slightly north of 150 at the time. Hood pins prevent that from happening.

This lifting issue affects all 1er hoods for the reason mentioned above, but it affects CF hoods more because of their lighter weight.

Hmmk, well like i said ive never seen pictures of anyone else with this hood with pins or ever heard of the need for them to keep the hood down during high speed..just doesnt seem to be an apparent issue..the air the travels thru the kidneys goes straight thru the tunnel to the filter

There is no way it should cost 2 grand to paint that CF hood...if you are being quoted that much then they are robbing you...

Its not the air going into the intake thats the issue. Its the air that slips underneath the hood through the seams.
