Installation for ER FMIC?
So to anyone who has this FMIC, how was the install? I dont see one on **********s or anywhere for that matter. I know HPF has full install instructions via video, seems very easy as it uses the stock connections. With the ER FMIC, is there any cutting of the inlet pipe leading to the FMIC needed? Im not worried about the outlet connection as I have the ER chargepipe which would mate right up with it, but I seem to remember someone posting something about having to cut their inlet stock piping in order to fit the ER FMIC..
Also, anyone who knows. What is the real benefit of the HPF (stock connections) versus the ER (hardpiping, silicon connector pipes)?? I know that the ER has smoother piping, specially on the outlet side with less angles, i.e. less flow restriction, but is the stock piping really that restrictive? I kind of wish the HPF core had the ER piping, as the HPF core is a good inch deeper with almost 200 more cubic inches internal space. Post anything related to this please |

It is on **********s:
http://www.**********s.com/Evolution...ntercooler.htm but it doesn't answer your question. Why not call Evolution and ask, they would be your best resource anyway. |

I have their FMIC, and there is definitely no cutting of any pipes. They said they only had to trim down a small amount of the bumper or something like that in order to fit it into the car...since it is much larger than the stock FMIC.
My car is leased so I was a bit worried at first...but you can't even tell anything has been done. He said that if I wanted to go back to stock for my lease turn in I would not have to buy any new pipes or anything and that everything would just mount right up just like before.

That makes perfect sense. A larger FMIC greatly increases airflow and lowers your temps. 15-25whp is pretty common from installing a FMIC especially if your running higher boost than stock.

technically, the power gains are incalculable, because results depend on speed, and will vary by the gear selected. 15-25+ is optimistic to say the least. anyway... i'll end this digression.

That does seem optimistic. Tomorrow I'll do a baseline with the stock intercooler and then do another dyno run with my Helix fmic. Not expecting those results but I know that my iats will be lower with the helix.

I specifically asked Fred if I installed the FMIC if I would be able to put back on the stock intercooler without having to buy any more parts...like stock OEM parts to which he replied yes.
Keep in mind this is for the N55...I do not know about the N54... Note: the N55 intercooler is not yet up on their website.
