No reason why you guys couldn't get an LSD. You might have a different pumpkin size, but that would be the only difference.

Only difference I could see would be the final drive ratio - usually is a bit higher numerically for automatics than for manuals. I would think any supplier of LSDs could set you up with any ratio you want.

A real LSD is on the list of 'need to do' for my Msport 128i.

I actually really like the 6spd AT in this car, its not even half as bad as ive been led to believe.

Why no actual LSD is even offered for a BMW 'Msport' optioned car is baffling.

Does this lack of LSD mean no rear diff.?

No, it means that the default setup is a open differential + a crappy electronic "lsd".

It seems that MFactory makes an LSD for automatic 128i but I haven't reached out to them. I was considering the upgrade but decided I won't modify this car so heavily.

The 128i AT uses the same diff as the 135i/335i AT. It's just the final gear ratio that is different (which is determined by the ring & pinion, which is separate from the LSD)

So to order for my car I would just purchase a Helical LSD with gears matching stock?

You just need to order the LSD

The gears are a completely separate thing from the LSD
