The ability to catch a nap, then roll out of the sack and walk to the track at 03:00 is key IMHO.

I'd love to throw in on renting a caravan for this.

I am not sure what I will do. I want to stay at the side of the track during the night time racing. Swadeness and I spent a few hours watching the car zip by Döttinger Höhe section at ~300 kph and that was just unreal! Also to walk around the Karosel area was just awesome at night.
I second the idea of camping there overnight! We need to do some research on how we could get a spot inside the track at a prime location. Do we have to know somebody in-order to do that? Parking is a bit of a hassle and with the race being so long it would be a better experience to hang out with friends, BS, have some drinks and check out the different sections of the track etc. all at your leisure.

That would be ideal. But you would have to get up to the 'Ring on Wednesday bc there was soooo many cars and trucks parked all over the place Gabe. It was unreal. THE worse STAU you have even seen around the Ring other than when there is a F1 race weekend.

Also... it also always rains in the night, so lots of mud. I am not sure what I will do. But I do know I WILL be there for the 24hr race!! It is such a special weekend during the race. Its more of an event than a race. Here are a few of my crappy pics from last year's ///M Fest...

Everyone want's to just show up at prime time in the best spot, but we're not VIPs. I just don't see any way to get a good location without showing up on Wednesday, caravan or no.

I have rain/mud gear but nothing I'd want to get into my car after wearing.

Maybe we could rent a panel van, just enough space for sleeping bags and to lock up our bier while we're roaming around?

Should we break this out as a separate thread?

How many days would we need the van? Maybe would be better to rent someplace closer to save on gas/mileage?

I want to build A TOWER!

We should have two vans, one for snorers and one for silent sleepers

Just got this from the Nurburgring FB page. They're making the call at noon.

"At the moment, the weather is no tourist trips. We have here even light snowfall. Whether the route can still be opened, decided at noon. ° Currently, the weather doesn't ´ t allow tourist rides. We still have light snow. Whether the track at all can still be opened will be decided at 12 clock."

I know because of those upgrades and repairs they had to cancel the first VLN race that was scheduled for 23 March.

Watch the official channels for news, that's what I'm doing.
If you do end up going, post up and I'll meet you there.

I booked for Destination Nurburgring DN7 2/3 April and till now they mailed that on the 2nd we will not run the Nordschleife because of repairing damages caused by frozen days, I hope we will be able to do the alternative Darren proposed, such is GP circuit on the 2nd and VLN (Nordschleife+GP circuit) on the 3rd. But the whether is not good at all and now some snow is still on it. I also have to do 900 kms to get there

Glad I decided to drive back from Ramstein to Schweinfurt yesterday.

Gonna hit up the Nuremberg meet tonight and the Schweinfurt meet tomorrow night. Should satisfy my car needs for this weekend.

Yeah I don't have any Laugenbrötchen here either. I am pondering wether I should get some tomorrow, together with some nice Fleischsalat, but then again there will be hell going on at all supermarkets .
