Anybody else think the E92 looks a little soft?
Please tell me I'm crazy. I understand that BMW is going for the more upscale feel of the 3-series coupe, but is that at the risk of coming off soft? Some angles of the E92 I think look great, but others remind me of the MB CLK! I don't care about the tail lights or what other cars they may resemble. I'm more talking about the overall shape, poise, and impression the car gives me.
I really hope I don't feel this way when I see the car in person, because I really want to like this car. I was just curious if anybody else felt the same way after the 1st round of pictures. Any thoughts? |

i kind of agree with you on that. it does look vastly different from the sedan, less aggressive, i dare to say. but as you said, i don't wanna pass any judgments before i see it in person.

I don't want to have to WAIT any more for a d@mn SI version...not to mention that you are speculating on there being an SI version. Just because they introduced the Z4 in an SI doesn't mean they'll do it for the 3 series. Where is the 650csi?

I agree... it's the back that I don't like. It looks japanese and way too subdued, they lost all the character of the E90s back end.
I'm thinking it will probably grow on me though.... the 5 and 7 did and I hated those when they came out. |

None of us want to wait. But that's business. Until we get the proper fuels in the USA we are not going to get the good stuff. In the interim I imagine a properly modded E92 335 would be an aggressive, fun car.

I agree that the rear profile looks weird. I initially thought that the space between the door and rear wheel well was too great, but this morning in the parkling lot at work there was a G35 coupe besides me. The space is the same. Now I think that it is the length of the boot, from the rear wheel well on back that seems out of proportion. Otherwise it is a seriously good looking car. Unlike some posters, I think the lights are fine in the back. The front looks very aggressive and the coupe does have a sophisticated flair about it, which I like.

I agree that it has almost a Japanese-Camryish feel to it, I was kind of suprised about how subdued the car looks. I am very happy with the look of the sedan and I am excited to see the E90 335i.

i like the way the coupe looks but for me its not worth paying a lot extra for it. why is a bmw coupe always more than the same sedan? to me its not worth the 2-3,000 extra just to have 2 less doors. i know the coupe is sportier and comes with more standard features but i dont care.

To be honest, when pictures of the E90 first surfaced, everyone (definitely including myself) thought it looked like shit. I think the tail-lights and two-piece grill STILL look like shit.
It speaks volumes that I find the E90's looks even acceptable now. I'm sure that a year from now, the E92 will look like the most beautiful coupe to wear the roundel in a long time. |

I agree, I think there's something suspiciously Volvo-ish about the look of the rear.
