OEM diffuser question

All,

I just purchased a new OEM diffuser, and I was wondering if anyone knows if the center piece (small plastic piece) is transferable. I know sometimes many of these mass-manufactured pieces have tabs that are meant to be broken upon removal; I want to know if anyone has removed the piece and installed it on another diffuser.

Thanks!

I know that piece is held on with 3m tape, but don't know how easy it would be to get out. good luck.

How do you know this is held on with 3m? While looking at the diffuser itself, it has 2 holes that apparently are used for the smaller piece to be held in place?

I tried ordering the shadowline diffuser from Gravity and never got a response from them - how long ago did you get yours?

I ordered it over a year ago. I could never get in touch with them and it took like 3 months to get the diffuser because there were some problems with the part being scratched up prior to shipping and having to be repainted. You'd be better off spending the extra money and getting an oem diffuser from your dealership and getting it painted gloss black locally or just paint your existing diffuser if you aren't worried about going back to stock.

The piece is nice though, and except for the Scopione CF diffuser I haven't seen a diffuser I'd rather have for the money.

I've done this. Bought a spare diffuser and had it painted but I didn't know at the time that it was 2 parts.

As a result I had to remove that plastic insert from the original one and put it on the new one (after getting it painted)

It is 3M tape and it's VERY sticky - quite hard to get off. The trick is to get a trim removal tool under 1 end and lever it up enough to grab it.

Once you've got a grip on it just slowly but firmly pull it away from the main diffuser part. It's quite flexible so it won't snap unless you try to bend it way over.

You will need to replace the tape though as it leaves most of it's sticky residue on the other piece.

Hope this helps.

There is a DIY around here that is kind of old that had someone take that middle piece and replace it with black mesh. Looks great!
