Nice video! I think we can now conclude that the 1M is faster than the E92 M3 even around the ring

Thus far, the only reports of even *possible* heat soak have been from cars driven in 97 degree heat. Since it doesn't get that hot too often in Germany, I'll wager that the answer is "no". Rest assured though, there are plenty of Texas 1M owners driving there cars in 100 degree heat, trying to find when it does occur.. If I had my car I would have done a 100 degree test today.. temps are heading for 110 tomorrow..

After watching this, I am finally satisfied with my choice of no nav. In my 08 135, I could just flip the screen down. I did not like the look of that screen at all in that vid. Do you find it distracting at all while you are focused on the track like that? Awesome driving BTW.

Great video.

At the end of the day the 1M will be Almost as rare a car as the M3 CSL. Obviously the CSL was never imported to the US but given the small build number of both cars I am very happy to have my 1M that is every bit as capable a car as the CSL and will be an instant collectors car as well.

Here is a lap behind a track prep CSL in my bog standard 1M coupe.

Some more info.

The guy in the CSL has done lots of laps more then 1000 but is no racing driver. I have done about only 80 laps in total or so. But i am racing driver and adapt very fast to new tracks. If i had more laps under my belt i could go easy under 8 minutes BTG. I really doubt the 7.50 CSL ring time the 1M is pretty close already there no 25 sec difference. Mount some pilot sport cups on the 1M and there is not much in it.

I was driving in M mode and DSC off. Everything else was off factory.

The seats don t give enough support on track and you still sitting to high in car. On long journey s to the ring the seats are perfect. So it s all compromise. And you can swap seats for race shells seats easily if you wish.

The M3 CSL has:

Rollcage
pilots sport cups on 18 inch wheels
Better coil over suspension
Big brakes
race seats and harness
Titan exhaust with race cats

Official Sport Auto ring times are:

M3 CSL - 7:50
BMW 1M Coupe - 8:15

Very impressive driving.
By the way, what does "BTG" mean?

Bridge to Gantry Basically the first bridge to the audi sign at the end. It doesn't always say audi there though.

You drive very well, and the car does way better than I expected.

What changes does the car really need??

Thanks for sharing the video.

Not even close. Only 1400 M3 CSL produced and none officially imported to US. The M1 production is only limited by factory capacity. Which is rumored to be somewhere between 2700-3000.

7.50 csl is complete lap. BTG should be 7.30 for the CSL. No way an original CSL drives 25 sec faster then a 1M on the Nring. With semi s on the 1M i highly doubt it would be faster. 7.50 time of the CSL is no video proof off also. It s the most hyped Nring time ever.

This movie shows that the CSL is not much faster then a 1M. CSL in this movie is also more trackfoccussed. Maybe there is something into the drivers. But not 25 secs.

In all your grossly mis-leading information your "maybe" claim is actually the most factual information you've posted.

Horst Von Saurma drove the CSL for Sport Auto. The same guy who has driven almost every car for them for years... The SAME organization who drove the 1M Coupe at 8:15.

Your claims mis-lead everyone.

Your assertions accuse some of the MOST reputable people of being liars

Your video is great, but this shows us that one person can drive and one person cannot

I went deeper into corners when I was 16 years old and a mere student of race driving

Please, let us enjoy the video without the bias garbage next time

Thanks you however. I enjoyed the watch.

So all it takes is one video and 1 driver to prove that? This guy (who is a great driver) should drive m3 and 1m around the ring. A honest drive. A unbiased drive. That would be nice to see best times.

Anyway, fun video. M's sure are all great cars.
