What do I need to make my system hands free/bluetooth compatible?

So, I have a steering wheel with audio and phone control buttons on it, however I don't have bluetooth connectivity through my BMW Professional audio system.

O took a photo of what I have in the trunk. What do I need to add in order to have bluetooth capability?

TIA!

do you have USB connectivity? Looks like you are missing the MULF unit that supposed to be there in the trunk.

I don't have USB connectivity, but I do have the AUX (mini stereo) input.

you'll need to buy a mulf2 unit as it appears u dont even have that in the trunk.
If im not mistaken, ur also missing some wiring harness as i recall having much more than what u have in the pic.

Im guessing ur not prewired for bluetooth which might be a pain. i think i read the newer units might have usb and bluetooth connectivity in back of head unit..i could be wrong tho.

It seems like your car is prewired, and in that case the only thing missing is the bluetooth module.

To confirm this, you can check your cars equipment list online here: http://www.rubmw.ru/vincode/eng/ (last seven digits of the cars VIN), look for anything bluetooth related.)

The easiest and least expensive way(<$20) to get Bluetooth audio would be to get a usb car charger and a Wireless Bluetooth A2DP Stereo Audio Dongle Adapter Connector 3.5mm Receiver off ebay BUT you would not be able to select a track of music from the steering wheel. Plug the charger into the lighter and the dongle into the charger, pair...DONE. Look at my post on this thread. The only difference is I used my usb port to charge the dongle, you would have to use the charger.

Since you have the 640, you should be able to just get the bluetooth module and a microphone. Shouldn't be that expensive at a dealer.
