Injector failure, dealer claiming multiple bad coils

2009 135i auto - warranty expired beginning of the year. Car hasn't been running right since around May. In July I tried replacing the coils (updated 00044 model) and spark plugs which didn't do much good. Two days ago the cylinder 5 injector finally bit the dust. The dealer is replacing all six injectors under the emissions warranty. They said two of the five month old coils are bad so all six need to be replaced, along with the spark plugs, and the mechanic is recommending the software update - this comes out to the tune of $1,200. This prices includes one free spark plug replaced under warranty due to failing injector. I haven't seen the breakdown of how they are coming up with this figure. What are the chances these new coils are bad? I guess I'll replace the spark plugs and coils again myself. Thoughts on the software update? I'm not sure why that didn't get done while it was still under warranty. Bank 1 injectors and spark plugs were replaced by this dealer December 2013 when I reported hesitation.

If the coils are OEM they should be parts warranty as well from the dealership. With the a receipt.
