Okay...not really E90-related, but it could be someday, I suppose.

Night Vision, High Beam Assist

It's a pretty good feature I say. I wouldn't mind it one bit...

The technology is awesome and I've seen in action on a Cadilac...

Problem with the BMW unit is it displays on the iDrive and not on a heads up display (HUD) like the Cadilac or new MB S-Class. BMW expects drives to watch the road, watch the iDrive LCD screen, and fiddle with the already distraction iDrive system???

EDIT: I went back and read more of the article and found an explation....

Display on the on-board monitor.

BMW Night Vision provides the driver with the night vision image as a contrasting black-and-white display on the central monitor in the instrument panel. Use of the Head-Up Display was considered by BMW. However, tests showed that the superimposition of real and virtual image information causes irritation and is therefore not optimum.

My take: By the time the driver notices something in his path on the Night Vision LCD, he's going to have to look back at the road, and back at the LCD if he still can't see it. It just seems like too many things to do in the event of an emergency.
