Questions on VMR VBs (CSL reps)

Everyone-

I have been reading the various threads that discuss the VMR CSL reps, along with what fitments people have tried. I perceive there to be some conflicting opinions about how well these wheels work as a plug-n-play on a stock setup. I am hoping those with experience can chime in on the following questions:

1) Will the 18x9.5 rear and 18x8.5 front VMR VB3 wheels (with 255/35/18 and 225/40/18, respectively) work on a completely stock 135 coupe without the need for spacers, camber adjustment, rolling, etc.? (that is, absolutely no rubbing issues, etc.)

2) Will the above size setup protrude out beyond the wheel wells and, if so, does this present any issues?

3) What has been the consensus on the quality of the VMR wheels?

4) Who are the positive vendors for these wheels?

I love the look of these wheels - just trying to do my homework and cover all the bases!!

Thanks!

1) Yes, with those tire sizes you will not rub on an absolutely stock set-up.

2) Yes, due to the offset being lower then the ideal offset for the 1 series the VMR VB3s will come out from the fender well a bit; this does not dramatically change anything.

3) VMR wheels are of great quality and pass all safety regulations.

You can run CSLs on the 135 but the offsets are a tad aggressive and will sit outside the fender a bit. I don't have them on my 135 but we do have the wheels in our showroom in Santa Clara if you want to stop by and take a look.

Our 135 is lowered and the CSLs work fine on it. You will need to roll your rear fenders though. It is quite aggressive:

These wheels are excellent quality and we have plenty of them in stock. We also carry the exclusive colors of matte black and gunmetal. Let me know if you have any questions.

There are slight rubbing issues with that size. That's why I recommend going with 245's instead (unless you're willing to roll the fenders), and get a set up that looks amazing. Trust me, this has been done before (both sizes actually) and we've sold, more than likely, the most CSL wheels to the 1addicts forum. Just look at our 1series showroom thread! (link at the bottom of the post.

2) Will the above size setup protrude out beyond the wheel wells and, if so, does this present any issues?
As you can see from the set up that Anthony posted above, the wheels on his car (with 255 size tires) still fits underneath the wheel well very nicely. Though most cars look like the wheels stick past the fenders, ours is lowered so it gives a bit more camber to the set up.

3) What has been the consensus on the quality of the VMR wheels?
You can't go wrong with VMR wheels. As you can see from the showroom thread, the majority of the CSL wheels, come from VMR.

4) Who are the positive vendors for these wheels?
There are a good amount on this forum eas included in that batch. But we also can get you Gunmetal and Matte Black CSL style wheles

I love the look of these wheels - just trying to do my homework and cover all the bases!!
Yes. Do your homework, see what fits YOUR car the best, and go with makes most sense over all of that

Thanks!

If you have any questions, please contact me directly. I think we have some great experience with these wheels especially since we have one of our own to play with:

The problem is not the width but the offsets. You can do an 18x8.5 and 18x9.5 but the 1er runs pretty odd and very high offsets.

I run:

Wheels - 18' VRM CSL Reps (EAS)
Tries - Yokohama S Drives - 225/40 (front) 245/35 (rear)

It rubs in the front but only if I hit a huge dip or something, but during normaly daily driving I do not have any rubbing.

Would really love to get a set with no rubbing nor need to roll. Hate that OEM tyre size 215 isn't readily available from different manufacturers.

That is precisely why we are developing a 1-Series Specific offsets. The sizes are 18x8.0 and 18x9.0 with the correct offsets that would allow you to run a 225F and 255R tire setup with an aggressive stance and no rubbing issues. Please search the Commercial Sales section for more information.
