Hard to close the door
Is it just me or is the driver door hard to close all the way? I keep driving off with the door slightly ajar until the car yells at me.

That doesn't sound quite right, BMW's are generally quite well known for the satisfying "Thump" they make when the door closes. You don't have a problem with the side window not going up or down the 1/4 inch do you ?

That would be my guess as well. You may have to reset it by raising it all the way and leaving the switch pressed for 10 seconds or so to - check other posts on this forum that describe this problem.

The window does do that little up/down maneuver. I've just been closing it harder than I do with my Honda and things seem ok for now.

I have this issue sometimes as well...it's both doors. I think it's the placement of the handle on the interior, you don't get much leverage when closing the door and sometimes it kinda bounces back open.

Doesn't sound right. Check the alignment of the door. Close it very slowly, pay attention to how the latch lines up. It should move in smoothly and straight, if it's out of alignment your door may be slightly lifted or lowered as the latch engages. I've had that issue with past cars, not so much with past BMWs but Audi and VW doors were readjusted a few times.
You can use the horizontal line from the top of the door as a guide to ensure a straight approach. |

I have noticed this as well on my drivers side door. The window is dropping as it should, but the door sometimes pops back open ajar.

I completely agree. The placement of the door handle has been my only rant about the car. It definitely makes the door hard to shut, and sometimes takes two tries.

Agreed...the door handle placement is poor for gaining leverage when closing the door.
My solution, I grab the map pocket. Try it, it works well, grab the map pocket anwhere along the bottom and pull the door shut gently. |
