Arrow e8x electric waterpump failure poll...

I would like EVERYONE to go to the poll above and VOTE so we can see how big of a problem this is... vote if your waterpump has failed or not on your e8x car. I want EVERYONE to post!: N51, N52 and N54 and N55 owners to VOTE!

I would like people who have had their electric waterpump(or thermostat) fail - to post their info in this thread and also vote in the above POLL.

Also please post your Model Year/production date and the miles when your pump failed. And also IF your the pump failure was covered by BMW or if you had to pay for it. Costs to you.

Thanks,
Dackel

example...

Model Year/Production date_______Miles________Warranty/Good Will ?______Engine Code__
2009 / May 2008 ______56K______cost me... $$$ not covered under warranty or good will_______N54

84K and my waterpump is fine. The var isn't throwing any codes either...just checked.

Also just finished a 1000 miles round trip to and from detroit. Car was running for 9 hours straight mo issues whatsoever, car just purred along.

Got hit by a motorcycle on the drivers side rear Q panel. Went to pull off freeway to x change info, and my water pump failed on the highway. Never talked to the guy and payed for all the body work, and water pump/thermo.

Car is 08 135i 78k miles. payed 880$ to a local shop when BMW asked for 1700$ and told my insurance that that pump failure is common around 50k and not in any way a result of being hit. Pissed.

Point taken. I have added N51's to my original post.

I want EVERYONE with an electric water pump e8x car to vote!!! I want to see if most of the failures are early production cars, ie: '08's and '09's... or if its an across the board failure deal.

I am only counting 4. But I think this is because these are all low mileage results. From what I remember reading around here is that after 60k miles your waterpump/thermostat is on borrowed time.

Ohh my Bad. I see now its only four failures too.

Yea... I have seen some posts with lots of failures after 60K miles... that is why I created this thread - to actually see how many failures we have had. But so far only four failures kind of makes me feel a little bit better about my electric water pump.

No worries I'm not sure too many people on the forums go to the maintenance subsection. But yeah it's looking good so far!
