All I know is that its form a M54 engine with an overdue oil change. He brought it to a place called Advance BMW repair in Texas. This is another shot of it, and there link if your interested.

Many years ago I had a dune buggy with the old air cooled VW motor. I went to a shop to get performance parts for it that also did repairs. One time when I was in there, they were putting a new motor on a square back. I asked why and they said the owner never changed the oil. It was the second replacement motor they had installed. Instead of changing the oil, they just changed the motor when it quit.

I have been looking at that picture for 10 minutes. I am still in awe that someone would wait that long for an oil change.

Although, I have heard of people who lease severely neglect basic maintenance.

You guys are missing the point! That, um, filter (?) is able to literally filter all of the oil from getting back into the engine and, gasp, protecting it!!!!

Eh, what? Did you see the engine it came from below? That filter was protecting nothing. The oil was so old, it had turned to sludge.
