Roundel
Sports and Exotic Car Magazine's March 2016 edition cover story is "100 Years of BMW". The editors column "Badge of Merit" talks about how right BMW got their
logo design way back then. Still a strong and timeless graphic symbol after all of those years with very minor changes to the font. A few days after getting the magazine the plastic trunk Roundel had become brittle and fallen to the ground. So I'm out $38.00 for a new one after only 8 years. Would have thought they would have used something more durable like baked enamel.

If you're paying $38 for a new Roundel, you should look for a better price. Try Tischer BMW (getbmwparts dot com) or Bavarian Autosport or Bimmian, etc.

I know it's not. But I feel they should be a free replacement by BMW since it reflects/represents their brand and vehicles.
It's always interesting when I see other BMWs with the logos paint completely faded or peeled away or just a chrome circle. You'd think BMW would just put a new one one when it came in for a service or checkup. I would also check Ebay. They have tones of roundels on there for cheap.

Like anything else on a car, especially the exterior, this is going to depend on how the car is used and how it is stored. A car being driven 20,000 miles a year in a harsh climate and stored outside is probably going to have shit for roundels and shit for paint in 7 or 8 years. A car that is driven a lot less and that is garaged, could have basically new paint and roundels. It all depends.
