Edit- Tried it out tonight and wow. I'm a newbie to MTs, so I've never considered skipping gears down, but the difference in acceleration is quite noticeable. I went 6->4 and it felt like the car pulled noticeably harder than 5th.

Test it out when the car is off: Press the pedal all the way down until you feel the first point of resistance. Then press more, and the pedal "clicks" past the point of resistance. That's the kickdown button. |

When you floor it, it's going to take some time (could be a fraction of a second, to maybe a couple of seconds on larger turbos) for the exhaust gases to build enough spooling to get the positive-reinforcement reaction going. By flooring the throttle gradually, you're also building the boost more linearly, as opposed to when mashing the pedal to the floor. I hope that makes sense. Disclaimer: I'm not an engineer, but this is what my pea-brain thinks is what's going on. |

on the 135i coupe automatic transmission, if you add sport package on the site, it automatically adds paddle shifters. if you have steptronic and paddle shifters, can you still use the manual shift mode on the console? kinda a noob question sry just wondering

The best way to gun it from 60-100 with STEP is to cruise in 5th to conserve on gas and when you get to an opening, DOUBLE-TAP downshift to 3rd while SIMULTANEOUSLY mashing the throttle. It will throw you back into your seat.
