I got it too (although I dont want it). My build is in my sig, no prem, just sports pack..

If you see it on your build order as cup holder N/C you are getting it.

Right. It's option code 422.

It gets added with the Navigation and IDrive system, but the system doesn't take it back off if that option is deleted. All the non-Idrive cars that have the extra cupholder are cars that were headed for dealer stock with Nav, and were re-configured when a customer placed an order. The options that are currently on a configuration don't really have anything to do with it.

The cup holder isn't attatched to the Premium pack, or sport pack and that's why it seems like there's no ryme or reason to it. It's a glitch in the ordering software that doesn't remove option 422 when Nav is removed.

I'd like to see other options for that slot.. cellphone holder maybe, something like that.. anything would be more useful to me than a cup holder.

When I first read the original post I wanted to just post a image that said "FAIL" but decided not to. At least some debate has come of the thread lol.

So can you request option 442 specifically regardless of navigation?

If you just want the cupholder, have the dealer add the nav (which will include 442 cupholder) and then remove the nav. That should leave 442 cupholder on the order. Be sure to check the final VIR after these changes. That's the
paperwork that will confirm it.

One way to see it is to go to the BMW website and build-your-own. Add the navigation option while your "dash" interior view is selected. You will see the cupholder appear when you add the nav.

I am going to order 4 extra cup holders and epoxy them to the console in front and back. That way I can have 6 cups of coffee for my 2.2 mile drive to work. HAHAHA.

I definitely want it. Drink gets in your arm's way when shifting gears, and can get your long sleeve shirt stained up if you've got a tall can of energy drink or something.

I WANT this 3rd cupholder! Some questions:

1) Does anyone know if the "order NAV/delete NAV" trick still work or did they catch on to it?
2) If #1 doesn't work anymore, does anyone know how to officially "retrofit" the console so that you can add this 3rd cupholder?

Here's the pic.
