Hands down, I'd do it.

If manual isn't convincing enough, the red interior should do the job.

The power of an N55 isn't good enough? lol. It's not as tuner friendly but I guess if that's just what you're after then stick with the N54. I'm good with the power an N55 can easily make.

What do you currently have done to your 135?

Noop. Plus the N55 sounds way better! IF your gonna tune... then maybe the N54 is the better engine. But even then you can get some respectable numbers out of a N55 too. Buy the newer car.

You'd be making more than enough power with those mods

Yes, it has an N54.

^No.

There are some really nice things on the horizon for the N55 platform for power mods if you're going for big power, but honestly, if I was going to get an N55, I would get one with a DCT. Those things are supposedly crazy fast shifting and can handle great power. Then again, I love my 6spd and will even more with a SSK installed soon. It feels solid and everything releases and catches right where it should.

Curious as to what's in the works for N55's, been feeling pretty linear so far .

Must agree with the 6spd, there is no replacement for the mechanical control you feel at your hands.

Though, I felt my friends new M3 DCT... I'll vouch, shifts faster than anything I've ever felt.

RB turbo is looking at an upgrade in a similar flavor to the N54 setup they currently have. Its been an idea for a while, but i think there is hope for it.

Also, if you look on N54tech and ***********, there are a few guys running top mount single turbos, which is only really an exhaust manifold and a turbo cost. Its not cheap, but its really the only way its going to get better for you guys.

I was at 360 rwhp with Stage 2 JB4 and my mods.... with ISO upgraded, soon to have flex fuel and an FMIC, I will be close, if not at 400. It can be done, and feels just as strong. Go for the new car!

i would take an n55 with DCT personally, I was in a toss up to lease a 2012 n55 with DCT or buy an 09' with steptronic, which I chose to buy.. However, I came from nothing but manual driven cars in my past and I would hands down take the DCT. They shift so fast and they are awesome and you won't strain your leg in traffic No matter how fast you are you can never out shift and automatic!

But in your case, personally I would wait.

Can you elaborate on the ISO upgrade? I just got a Stage 2 JB4, still awaiting arrival.

Found out, is this the ISO finalized firmware update--http://www.n54tech.com/forums/showpost.php?p=193708&postcount=1 ?

An m3 is a very different car than the 135. Its a bigger, heavier, less fuel efficient, N/A motor that when supercharged, can be a monster, but at a cost. Most replacement and aftermarket parts for the E9X M3 are more expensive than that of the E82/E9X non-m.

It depends what you want out of a car, but if given the option, the 5k you were going to spend on a base M3 thats 3+ years older and much higher mileage can go a LONG way to make the 135 faster and handle better.

5k is an LSD, FBO (maybe even meth if you are so inclined) and a set of Z1s on either stock wheels or ARC-8s.

Just my .02.

The ISO is a more consistent tune. It actually retunes and provides power, instead of sending buffered/false numbers.

Stage 2 isn't bad, but ISO is the way to be.

I would explain deeper, but the big game is on. Head over to N54tech.com and you can read all about the ISO upgrade and probly answer any question you have.

Thanks for the direction, looked into it and am a bit confused if G5 boards have to do the little mod thing with the diode; or, if the new JB4's come with the ISO?
