The RHD units would be a success here in Australia. Everyone who owns one here is very passionate about their 135i. Everyone who sees one here will enquire and buy one eventually. I would think word of mouth would go a long way.

I think the 135 is more of an enthusiast's car than the 335 and hence we're more likely to add parts like this.
I think this comment may get me into trouble with 335 owners ...

Problem is, I need to sell close to 100 to re-coupe dev costs... sounds easy enough, but not if you take the RHD 335i gauge for example:

I have sold hundreds and hundreds of the LHD models in the last couple years, 100 of those just over the 2009 holidays!

RHD 335i gauges... I sold a total of 11 so far. Pathetic... total waste of time and money to even create the RHD version.

Will the 135i gauge be different? I would like to know how it could be... is the 1-series more popular in RHD? Could the 120d be a good candidate?

Thanks guys!

-Rick
Ohh That means i have bought a major percentage of those RHD 335i Guages.

Also i thought i was getting the first RHD 135i as discussed......thats what we have been waiting for.....

I'll be holding stock of these for the Guys in Australia.....

So how far away are we from the finished product? I think you'll get an easy 20 extra orders when people see photos and reviews of the RHD unit. I doubt you'll get 30-40 people to commit to a group buy for something that hasn't actually been made yet. I've been hanging out for this boost gauge for so long, I want it so bad.

OK guys... you convinced me... I'll try to get a few units made up before April and start a group buy around then. In the meantime... feel free to purchase a LHD unit and install it for your passengers to enjoy

Will a LHD unit fit ok?

If so I might go for that. I only really need the peak recall feature and would just reach over to press the button. The rest of the time I would leave it off.

Rick

How are the RHD units coming along? Haven't heard from you in a while... are you still making these? There's a few people who've been waiting patiently including myself. Please update.

Update

I received a PM reply from Rick today. Same story as before. We need at least 20 people to get this underway. I was under the assumption, as I'm sure most of you were, that a few units were being made by early April but nothing has been started and nothing will until we have enough interest!

Rick is only interested in making this product if we have at least 20 people signed up. Otherwise RHD group buy = FAIL.

If you know of anyone that wants a RHD Rixster boost gauge let them know and get them to put their name on the list. I'm sure there a few new Aussie members that would be keen for something like this.

This is what we have so far:

Hey guys... as soon as I pull the trigger it's just a 4 week wait... I just can't pull the trigger (and drop the money it takes to order up the parts), unless I know there is actually more than 9 people even interested in a right hand drive model... To compare... I had close to 400 people on the list for the LHD 135i.

It would appear to me that a RHD gauge for the 135i is probably not going to happen as there's simply not enough demand. Can't blame Rick for that - he's not a charity!

Rick - is there any reason why I couldn't install a standard LHD gauge in my car? I mean the main way I would be using it would be to press the button to read peak boost and I can simply reach over to do that. I wouldn't be looking at the gauge while driving along anyway so perhaps it would be fine on the other side of the car and only slightly inconvenient.

What do you think? Is there any other reason why it would not work with a RHD car such as routing of wires, location of power supply etc? If not I think I will just order a standard gauge.

Have you got them in stock at the moment and do they still come complete with the vent itself?

Cheers

Jack

I'm guessing this never happened. I'd like to see it happen. If we posted in the regional forums where we have RHD cars, maybe that would spark some interest... enough for one run at least?
