About the only downside I have seen(besides the monthly payment ) is that I noticed other people on the road tend to have an aggressive/PO'd attitude toward me(even my wife notices it when she drives it). They tend to automatically think because you are driving a bimmer, you are gonna drive like an a'hole, regardless of whether or not you actually are(I actually drive more sane with the BMW, than our other car, cause it's new )

The biggest downside to driving a 3 series bmw for me (not bmw in general) is that people in my area of the country think you are trying too hard to get into 'the' league you'll never be in.
IE: The 3 is the cheapest BMW US series, and for most people their 3's are stripped so its msrp is less then 40 g's. However they parade around with the word "bimmer" this and "bimmer" that, thinking they own a expensive luxury car, and its diminishing to the bmw owners who dropped 60, 70, 80 g's on theirs. Totally valid. My mistake was buying a 44,900$ 3 series, when I should have went for a less loaded fx35 or something more notable in this area.... The lesson is, dont load a already cheap car. Sorry to sound like a ass because I know everyone on this fourm cherishes their 3, but its realality folks....

the part you just have to laugh at is the folks getting out of their $45k SUVs that make the comments about "how much money that 325 must've cost you, mr moneybags..." talk about completely clueless.

It is funny, I bought a 320i (fully loaded), that worths about the same price as yours!... you see, here it is a very expensive car. Although I live in a "rich" suburb, I am considered a rich bastard! Contrast, contrast
For those asking silly questions about my 320 choice... It worths as much as a 325 in the US, our gas price is the same as in the rest in europe, our taxes are the same as the rest of europe, my salary is the 1/3 of my colegues in europe; Now talk to me about economy!! C yaz! |

I haven't got my 325i yet but I'm dreading driving it down my street. I live in a very blue color neighbor hood and most of us are friends. I'm sure I'll get a lot of grief when they see what’s sitting in my driveway, and I always feel like I have to defend my purchase by saying it didn't cost as much as that car or that SUV.

No downside IMO.
I could care less what others think, especially shallow plastic people.

guys,
why should you feel guilty about driving a nicer car? Who cares. Like someone said, some ppl will bitch about you buying a $40k 325 when they are driving a $50k SUV. Some ppl are stupid. Be happy and proud of owning a fine piece of German engineering. |

I am a college student, so to most of my friends a 45 thousand dollar car is a big deal. If you are a 35 year old with wife, kids, house, dog, then most of your friends are probably at the same level. My roommate know how I got the car and that my parents didnt hand it over to me. Guys seem to generally think I'm a mama's boy while girl just go "wow" and "hot". I really dont care either way.

For everyone who thinks that a 44,900$ 325i is a bad move, I agree.
Infact remember this as a glorious day because I am admiting I fucked up. Hell thats whatcha get when you buy a 3 series, you abolsutley dont get whatcha pay for....
