New to the forum + New England Auto Show

Hi,

I have been following this forum for a while and it definitely helped me get more familiar with the 1 series. I have been a long time BMW fan and now I am finally at the point where I will be able to get my own. I will be ordering a 128i coupe for April delivery and I can't wait. I test drove it a couple of weeks ago and was very impressed by the car. Everything aout it just feels right - the handling, the power, the overall feel of solid engineering. It will be a long 5 months..

I went to the New England Auto show today and they had a couple of 1 series - a 128i coupe and a 128i covertible. My wife took a couple of pictures of me checking out the car:

On a different note, I saw Steven Tyler of Aerosmith checking out the cars in the Ferrari/Maserati section. Very cool. The picture sucks as I took it from a distance, though:

Hey Dan,

Welcome to 1ADDICTS. Don't sweat the wait, another here waited nearly 4 years. Many of us waited 8-9 months. You'll see, the wait will be be worth it.:biggrin:

Well, a couple of reasons. I made my decision to go for it a couple of weeks ago and I didn't want to buy the car right before winter. Taking delivery in April will be safe in terms of avoiding having to buy winter tires right away. Second, there are no 2008 128's left with the options I want and there are currently no financing deals on 2009's. I don't know if there will be any next year but there might. Finally, I want to equip the car exactly the way I want so I'll have to order anyway. I just can't decide on exterior color. Decisions, decisions..

Nice pictures. However, this was the worst autoshow in recent history if you ask me. BMW had no cars on podium. No M3 coupe. No M5. No 135. Gone was the fantastic displays last year of the M3 on a podium and plasma's highlighting its engineering and performance.

Porsche was even worse. They brought 5 random 911's and one Cayenne. No Boxster or Caymen to represent even though they have lease specials running on both.

No rhyme or reason to the makeup of the show. No Corvette hanging from the ceiling like last year. No Subaru STi in appearance. The list of disappointments go on and on.

The wait will be worth it for sure. Get this, we ordered our 135i about 4 months before we took European Delivery. We drove it around Germany for 2 weeks. Then we took it to the drop off point to had it delivered to the U.S. From the time we got home to the time our car arrived at our local dealership was a span of one and a half months. Talk about a teaser! lol

+1

I was almost afraid to tell the buddy I was with that I had ordered a 135i vert cause the 128i vert they had on display was the basic vanilla non-sport beige over beige model and just didn't really show how gorgeous these cars can be. (no offense meant to anyone if they have this combo)
