What is your preferred gas station?
Personally, I use Shell 91 because I've heard through the grapevine it's better than the rest.
But, there are times where a Shell station cannot be found anywhere. So I was wondering which station comes close to a Shell. Or if anybody has a different opinion as to which station has better fuel, please chime in. Thanks. |

The one closest to my house - happens to be BP, although I prefer Shell. Unfortunately, there are no Shell stations within 10 miles of where I live.

I prefer Shell V-Power 91 Octane and I also have a Shell credit card, but any Top Tier establishment is fine.

Shell v-power just because it's down the street and convenient. Also since I switched a year ago the 135i seems to run a little smoother.

My father is a Petroleum Engineer. He spent his entire career working for a US-based oil company involved in exploration, drilling, transportation and refining of crude oil into many products including gasoline. His company's brand is sold across the US. Without naming any brand names, here is what he has been telling me for years...
1. All brands pull their gasoline from the same refineries. Even though a refinery is owned by brand 'A', it sells gasoline to brands 'B' through 'Z'. 2. The only thing that differentiates the brands is their proprietary additive package which is added to the gasoline as the delivery truck is loaded. 3. All the MAJOR TOP TIER brands have created additive packages that include their particular recipe of octane, performance enhancers and detergents. You really cannot go wrong using any of the MAJOR TOP TIER brands. 4. The BARGAIN BRANDS are cheaper for one primary reason...they skimp on the quality and quantity of their additives. According to Pop, some BARGAIN BRANDS leave out the detergents all together in order to save money so they can sell their gas for less. In just a short time, this will lead to heavy engine deposits, poor performance and reduced MPG. So, when you buy Cheap Gas, you are buying gas that is lacking in the additives that a high-performance engine requires. You are not really saving money. You will be faced with higher costs of operation due to inefficiencies and higher costs of repair due to engine deposits. At least, that is what Pop tells me. He has not lied to me yet.
