it's tire driven dyno's, but the results are calculated into flywheel hp. so, 330hp on a EU dyno is not whp, but an approximation of how much crank hp is being made.

10% ethanol nationwide with the government pushing for 15%. So if Ethanol is what's killing our hpfp's then BMW can't blame US fuel.

How much was it to get a pull on the dyno? Do they also have AWD dyno's? I've been looking all over Kaiserslautern and can't find one to see what my 135i can do.

KC, That is the only guy I have heard of and he also caters to americans. But I have also heard some horror stories from them too. I want to do some pulls eventually but have to wait a bit. There is no one that I know of in K-town or around that area that has a dyno. You could probably ask Klaus Peter over at Schaefer Clubsport if he knows of one around there but don't think there is one.

Rix, how much was it per pull?? Nice numbers.

Photo to prove it happened

Nick...67 euros for the entire run.

As many of you guys beatup folks for not providing photos to prove it really happened ;-).....here's the photo.

BTW, as far as I can tell, this was a AWD dyno, and they pulled it twice, once to find out a baseline and to see what the car was losing between the engine and rear wheels...then pulled it a second time to record the values.

As you can see on the SAE chart, the rear wheel HP is 269 (green line) while the crank is 322 (red line).

I like the banner on the left...Superflow....Lie Detector ;-)

Enjoy

Talking

Thanks a lot Rikx135, especially for posting HP and lb-ft for us non-metric, global standards challenged Americans.

Now go get a tune for that bad boy and let's get those HP numbers in the high 300's.

Don't know. I figure if I dump a bottle of everclear in my CoolingMist tank that it's ethanol correcting the ethanol. Kinda like Karma...

Hey rikx135, nice pull

I have done euro dyno as well. we can compare results if u want to.. however i have a n54.
I know of some other dyno guys near dortmund too. I plan on going to them again to get my upgraded results after my exhaust install, but im waiting on a FMIC + BOV pipe addition before i go. got 389 hp last time on a hot day, im predicting around 430 after these upgrades..

Well, i think you know it but ethanol is not always synonymous to "loss of power". If you have a good tune with E85 (ethanol) on a turboed car it's really magic : it's a huge gain in power (and also it's cheaper than gas). I have this tune on my renault 21 turbo and it's a gain of 30-40hp compared to sp98 (98 octane gas) using ethanol is like using 105 octane gas)
I wanted to do it on my 135i but when it appears that the hpfp are not reliable i prefered to forget it for the moment .

Dude....389+ and potentially 430....I want to ride in this 135.....we need to visit with each other for some cross talking and let's get some good videos/photos of this ride. I'm in Heidelberg...do you ever come this way?

I'm probably going to do nurburging on the 21st of Nov or 6/7 Dec as I have a 75 euros card to use up before EOY....wanna go?

Actually no...that problem is easily corrected by simply burning more fuel. The real benefit of ethanol is that it has higher knock resistance than petrol (gas), so an E85 powered car that is tuned to run on it has an octane rating of 100+. This means that even though you are burning through much more litres (gallons) of fuel, you can get more power outright from a well tuned engine.

It's no surprise that many race cars run on E85 flex-fuel.

Anyway back on topic to the OP: great numbers from a stock car that hasn't been totally broken in yet! Should be seeing some even better numbers after it has loosened up a bit more. Any chance of having figures that are metric in nature?
