Brake Fade Safety!
I wanted to share a video of my friend Davids track day at the Hockenheimring. Im sure you have seen this video on Carthrottle, Road&Track, CarMemes etc. I didn't realize how far gone his stock GT500 brakes (Equiped with Factory Track Pack Brembo's) were. He saved the car and the video is spreading like wildfire. Just a PSA, remember to drive within your limits, and listen to your car. Don't push it, when components are begining to fail.

Actually surprised that the car didn't roll when he pitched it in like that to slow it down. Lucky guy.

That was terrifying. Can't imagine what it was like in-car!
Unfortunately, this is going to get more common as companies keep making bloated cars that they then have to load up with horsepower to keep the performance numbers up. There is no brake setup that will stop a 4,000 lbs car going the kind of speeds 662 hp will generate on track that will also suit daily street driving duty too. Lesson of the day: first track day mod is always brake pads/fluid!

Rarely does a video trigger an adrenalin spike like this one does. So many things could have gone wrong, but the quick thinking on the part of the driver allowed for the near-impossible save to occur. Also want to give props to the driver on the outside for using his mirrors. Things could have gotten really ugly had that drive started his turned in.
