The 135i is more of what I would call a "typical BMW," that is before BMW first cheapened the brand by churning out pseudo luxury cars in massive numbers, putting M badges everywhere on cars that shouldn't have them, and began to then finally succeeded at making cars that drive like a sofa looking for an upholstery shop. Aside from the massive power boost, the 135i reminds me, a lot, of my red 5MT 1992 325i, bought new, and at the time not even considered to be a luxury car (although it did have leather seats). If BMW still routinely made manual transmission vehicles of the same size as my old 325i, that drove like that 325i, I would never have bothered to amass my little collection of cars which I only did because I know it is now OVER. |

I agree. (And what I meant above) is that the 135 is the last true drivers car.
The 1M sounds fantastic buts not financially possible right now. I'm hoping at some point but we'll see.

The 1M is a great car, but I wouldn't lose any sleep over having to "settle" for a 135i. I expect to put a lot more miles on my 135i coupe than on my 1M. For longer drives, the 135i is actually a more comfortable car to be in.

76k miles on my 1M and it's been super reliable. Just stay aggressive on fluid changes and it's all pretty glorious pretty easily. Agreed no silly money to maintain a 1M. The rear diff requires some extra fluid changes and a bit more aggressive all around but no big deal IMO. Fwiw my 135is had just as many M badges as my 1M...lol |

I guess it depends on how many they make. If they make 10,000 vs. less than 1,000 1M

nah. they said the same thing when the M4 was coming out....and it had NO impact on 1M supply or demand. I don't know of a single 1M owner who is clearly getting rid of their 1M for an M2......single turbo from a twin? same torque? more weight? not as good looking? not limited? really makes no sense...

N54 >> N55. i've owned both engines. I don't care about 'tuning' at all...but way more tuneability of an N54. the 1M is a way better looking car than the M2, IMO..... the 1M is 3300 lbs on paper and by people weighing their cars....i highly doubt any M2 will be near that. |

The 1M was/is a great car...but the M2 eclipses it for today's buyer looking for a more compact alternative to the M4 and isn't interested in buying used. Will the 1M become a classic like the Z8? Possibly, but likely not nearly as pricey or exclusive.

If you look at this like classic cars.....
1M. Uber rare, one year limited production, and numbered. M2, Mass production, No year model restrictions. Aesthetics: 1M looks better than the M2. The M2 is just too much, everywhere, except the engine. Performance: M2 is gonna out perform the 1M. Track times will prove this, 0-60 etc. Special Feel: 1M will always have it. It looks wierd (<3) it's limited production, it drives special, and people will always find it intriguing. I got to test drive a new M4, and though i believe the car is drastically capable and fast, it doesn't feel special. I don't get the feeling I'm driving an ///M car. Especailly after test driving a 435i Msport right after. It didn't have that special feel. I got to sit in a 1M (First time ever considering I know 6 or so owners) and though I am alittle biased, I had a distinct "Special" feel when I got to sit in the drivers seat and start that N54 with Akro exhaust! To those who own, or understand how car values work, will know the 1M is gonna go up in price. It has too. If you are buy a car just to drive a couple years and sell, get an M2. If you plan on keeping it indef, get or keep a 1M.

Buy the M2 if you want the "modern" M-Series car experience the way that most people will own it, which is to say as a DD and for several years with lots of depreciation each year. Probably it is a much better deal to do it as a lease you can write off paid for by your business.
Buy the 1M as a Sunday driver garage queen collectible. If your plan is to put lots of miles on it, that will effect the resale value a lot, as it does for any collectible car. |

The current N54 hybrid twins record is 711whp with over 500wtq from 3600 rpm-redline. The record for a single is 861whp with a vastly different torque curve (I couldn't find the plot). No one has even come close to these numbers on an N55 that I'm aware of.

So when did Shiv stop producing the PROCEDE? I've been out of the N54 stuff since 3/2013.
