FWIW, "Darlene Hawley" has replied to my OC email queries previously. If you're really concerned & suspicious, I think the more reliable approach will be to look under your hood in ~6 weeks.

I understand but when you have a guy tell you there is no news of a secondary cooler who then proceeds to look this person up in the directory while I'm on the phone with him, you can imagine my reaction. I hope it holds true that we do get the cooler and look forward to confirming it myself in the next several weeks.

LOL. I guess someone has hacked the owners circle e-mail system and is responding with bogus answers to customer questions.

I just called BMW's 800 number and the operator confirmed that if you order the sport pac for the 135i, you get a secondary oil cooler. :headbang:

Did you all notice the hydraulic reservoir from the Autospies engine bay too?
(to be totally off topic, but cool nonetheless) |

I'm not sure it will make that much difference. The 2nd oil cooler won't help with intake temps, which given it's not a 2nd intercooler, are likely to start being the limiting factor if you want to push the turbos harder - or indeed the maximum flow rate of the turbos themselves.

And I live at 7000ft where the turbos have to work harder to build boost up to the 8 lb OE level, more so any aftermarket increase in boost. It was important to me to get that oil cooler.

All this talk about oil cooler makes me wonder about intercooler. WHere is that on the 135i and is there space for installing a larger aftermarket unit?

There's a few FMIC units available for the 335i. I would think that since the 135i uses the same front end underpinnings and motor as the 335 (according to our trusty new technical doc we got the other day), the existing aftermarket intercoolers would work on these cars too...
Check out this thread at e90post for great info about existing forced induction mods available for the 335i right now. There's quite a lot! |

WAY - the intercooler is under the chin (front bumper). It's the first in the stack of radiators; intercooler, coolant radiator, oil cooler. Then there is the fabled 'secondary' oil cooler which resides in the right front wheel well and is one reason the 135i does not come with fog lamps.
What I was told in Chicago was that all 135is, regardless of trim level or transmision, come with an oil cooler. The latest info is that there is also a 'secondary' oil cooler on ZSP 135is. |

When the ECU upgrade(s) become available (BMW or DINAN), I can always add a second oil cooler if necessary.
Wasn't it only the 335i Autos that really needed the 2nd oil cooler?

Chris, there were both steptronic and 6sp non-modded cars that did the limp mode thang...
I still am not 100% convinced my 6sp/ZSP 135i will have the aux oil cooler (though now I'm a bit more hopeful), but, like you Chris, if I do have issues, BMW will be remedying it, regardless of what options I ordered. |
