I've never tipped a CA but if they did a great job I'll give them repeat business.

I gave mine a gift bag with a six pack of specialty beers, a nice glass with the beer's logo, and a small handheld cooler to carry it in...

After all...when he received a surprise allocation, he didn't have t call me..I don't think I was number 1 on the waiting list...I was just the most persistent.

A small tip or gift for helping me score such a great limited edition car is minor stuff...

I don't think its wrong at all to give him a tip or a gift. Many sales people do not put in the extra effort. I work in sales and put in the extra effort and have had customers tip me and bring me cases of beer. It is very nice to work with people who see the extra work being put in. It is very nice even receiving thank you cards.

All I was planning to do was give a call to his manager and give him a glowing report. I've already put a lengthy comment in the 'good dealer' thread and sent the link to my CA so he can share with his colleagues.

After reading through this thread, I'm thinking I might see if he want to pop out to lunch and a beer at a nice Belgian pub around the corner when I go over to show him the car (since I did PCD, they have not seen a black 1M yet)

I didn't tip my CA with money but my dad and I did show our appreciation of his hard work with a little goodwill gesture. My dad owns a Franchise of Hardees restaurants and he gave my CA as well as the finance manager free lunch coupons that can be used till the end of the year unlimited times

although it was nothing big, it creates a good relationship with the dealership. We also show our gratitude by becoming repeat customers....my 1M was the 3rd BMW we bought from that CA

+2. My CA actually works in the used car portion, at that time i was looking for a used 335. I ended up buying 2 new cars from him. My next BMW will be from him and i give him referrals.

But not everyone is a supercool dealer who hangs out here with us and stalks our every move.

I took mine out on a celebratory night of boozing. I'm half Korean and we're the Irish of Asia. That, plus owning two bars, meant that he was already destined for a rough one--my liver is strong like bull. The poor bastich made it in to work the next day...barely. So, I got my gratitude and my revenge for no loyalty discount taken care of in one shot. We are friends now. I just texted him because it's First Thursday and he lives up the street from me.

All aboard the pain train!
