Today we play around with the Carbon Black 135i couple mods going on today.

Looking at the alarm retrofit. Seems easy (especially since I have an 08 which comes pre-wired).

Slooowwwlly turning this car from "it has 2 options" to "yeah it's fully loaded"

Esteban I literally just put new rubber on mine and it looks like I'll be ordering some again in the next 6mo or so

Some pics from the event, if anyone is wondering what we got up to, we went to an indoor gokart place with 50mph electric gokarts. Total turnout was 16 people and 6 1ers!

We didn't set any record laptimes but everyone seemed to have a blast and wanted to do it again soon. I'll have some more pics and videos once our designated photo/film guy goes through and processes the evidence.

Bought new front brake pads. OEM type. (Jurid?) Got a new sensor, some coolant, and a brake bleed catch bottle. (Better than making my own from Home Depot imo) need to buy some brake fluid. Want to get the bright blue kind but bavauto didn’t sell it... annoying. I’ll look for some tonight. Any suggestions?

The stock pads dust way too much but whatever. Just a reminder that I need to wash the car more often.

Engine and cabin air filters change. Old ones were filthy. Only dropped 2 sockets and 1 bolt into the engine bay. Recovered a socket, the other and the bolt are sacrifices to the bimmer gods now.

Looks like 50/50. The Prius pulled out unsafely into the BMW's lane, and the BMW was going way too fast.

Both are at-fault, IMO:

BMW was going way too fast (compare speed to other traffic), and could've probably slowed sufficiently if he were looking ahead like a competent driver should...

New tires were awesome.
Covered a chunk of Northern California. 2 bridges, green hills, warm Temps, even did a couple hours top - down.

BMW specs low viscosity fluid for the brakes. That may not make a big difference where you live, due to your relative lack of cold weather. Here where I am, it can (and did this winter) get well below zero Fahrenheit. The clutch and brakes were not amused. They say the low viscosity fluid works better in the ABS/DSC valve module.

Busy day. Washed car & cleaned top and treated it. Now I hope it does not rain, but am ready. Changed oil & oil filter. Now to send sample off to Blackstone.

Then I spent a couple of hours changing the air filters. Have the Dinan CF air filter housing & tube which means removing bumper cover to get to lower filter. Everything is tight down there so end up taking horn and a couple other things loose just to get it off and back on. Then reinstall bumper cover.

Dropped the subframe, changed the oil pan gasket, rear main seal, and got all the old twin turbos components removed in prep for the new ST.
