My SA was laughing

My SA was sort of a douche. I just bought a 2008 135i convertible. Got a great deal....but he was a douche. I got it for $500 over invoice and 0.9% financing. He was saying that he bought a nice boat this summer from all his commissions on the 1 series cars that he sold. He said he got sticker price for 14 of them and got people to pay ridiculous interest rates. I wouldn't buy from him again.

Are there really people out there who paid sticker price? Do people like that really exist? If so..are you mad you didn't wait a couple of months to save multiple thousands?

Are you trolling on your first post? Looks like you may be doing just that and anymore of it will get you an infraction. BTW, welcome to 1Addicts.

what??????????????????

Trolling for what? I don't get it. It's my first post because I just got a 1 series. I didn't mean to offend you, but I guess you answered my question. You paid sticker. I was just curious. I didn't realize people were so hostile here.

Then I apoligise if I misread your intentions. Obviously, that question had the potential for trolling.

You have to admit, the way you ask a fairly obvious set of questions in the first post and follow it up with a slight jab at a mod makes it at least appear that you're trolling.

Thanks for the support lib. I didn't think it was just my interpretation.

Wow...you guys are very hostile. I ask a simple question and get attacked. I guess I"ll just ask happy questions and talk about sunshine and rainbows. I was just shocked that my SA sold so many cars at sticker. I was wondering if he was bullsh**ing me. I was confronting an issue, not burying my head in the sand.

it all depends on when you bought the car. I believe you are suffering from buyer's remorse....it happens to a lot of people with big purchases. We tend to think we got hosed. It's not just cars....if you must have it now, it will cost you!!!!!!!!
Simple as that.....nobody forced you to buy at that price.
You wanted it and you thought it was worth it to you.
You are the only one that matters.....who cares what the guy did with his commission.

With the way the economy is right....don't be surprise if you see his boat for sale soon.

first of all...welcome and congrats on the 1er. Secondly...good luck around here. I only hope that your question and reply to the Mod is a misinterpretation.

This is far from a hostile group, more civil than any other group I've participated in. But you illustrated a fair amount of attitude and asked a rather obvious question. This is a first year model we're talking about here...search old threads, people were lucky to get $500 off MSRP. Some take a lot of pride in being one of the first adopters. (*iPhone*)

If it weren't for the suffering car dealerships, you'd be singing a different tune...

^ Yep, that's the obvious part I was referring to (lamini's post)

If a new car was just released you're always going to pay more than if you wait a while. It happens with each new model, model refresh and usually it even happens at the beginning of each model year - it should hardly surprise you.

Now, very few people that bought early paid sticker but from the posts in the orders forum most were only seeing $500-$1000 off for the first couple months so it might as well have been sticker.

ROFL

bmw1er, If you go to a "1 group meat" in Canada, and say you paid sticker plus 500, and got .9% cause... U will find out what type of "bread" we keep in our ski bags... We are talking fridge magnets here... and they hurt!

Anytime there's a limited allotment of a car and you want specific features there's a good chance you'll have to pay sticker. I did, and I'm not upset about it. I don't appreciate the tone of your post though. My dealer had sold out of their first few months of cars before the first arrived. If they are selling like that why should they discount them? And while I could have waited, I can't predict the future. How long would I have had to wait?

Different markets have different prices and expectations. Here people are paying $20k over sticker for GT-Rs. Maybe where you are people have been harder hit by the financial meltdown and thus new car sales are lagging. There's many, many variables to consider and you shouldn't cast judgment until you look into those. Also, it's our money and we should spend it on what we want. I'll bet I got a lot more house for the money than you do, but I'm not going to ridicule you for that.

I think I paid sticker...hell, we didn't talk about price. It wasn't even released yet, so why would I expect him to give me a discount?

However, because it was early an early build, it came with the MDS80...so that alone was worth the small premium

I paid sticker. I shopped around at five different dealers and no one was able to do any better. One offered me $500 off sticker but the dealer was far away and it wasn't worth it to go that far for service. Some of them weren't able to get me a 135 AT ALL as they didn't have any allotments available. I'm very happy with my 1 and don't regret paying sticker at all.

You must be new to buying cars in general because your question is somewhat ridiculous.
You bought a 2008 model when the 2009 models have been out for around a month. Obviously, you got a better deal on your 2008 (an outdated model) than most, if not all, people who got a 2008 model 6 months ago when the cars just came out. I am sure you are proud of yourself, but in my opinion you OVERPAID. I would never pay even invoice price for a 1-year old car. Your car (as is mine) is now outdated….its basically a used car.
And, no I did not pay MSRP.

I paid sticker and took delivery before the official delivery date. I had little to no bargaining power do to the fact I had to drive just over 75 miles to the nearest dealer. I would have liked to have gotten a better price, but it just wasn't happening at that time. They only got one 135 a month this entire year. If I really wanted one for a great price, I would have gotten a used 135. This will probably be the last brand new car I buy that isn't through military sales, from now on it is a year or two old.

They are all used cars once you drive them off the lot.
