I'm trying to find out if i have to reprogram the Airbag circuit when the seats are changed over, and yeah WAY i hear what you are saying re price.

That has been my big concern with these parts. How much is all these extras going to be, is it cheaper with over seas options to directly import. These are all the issues i am working on at the moment.

By the way- You all should have EMAIL.

I didn't realise there were so many of you......

They appear to be alcantara in the middle with leather bolsters on each side.

Re Steering wheel upgrade

A sport steering wheel airbag system must be additionally
ordered for vehicles equipped with a standard steering
wheel. In the case of vehicles already equipped with a sport
steering wheel, the existing airbag module can be
adopted. A specific coil spring cartage is required for
running additional cables.

Also a few cars have been fully kitted out i was just told, unveiling at the 135i release at Phillip island, not sure how true this is......i'm sensing these things are getting too pricey......

my wallet hurts and i'm not even sitting on it. i read that about the airbag compatibility issue too somewhere, but the 135i airbag should be fine no? i'm keen on that steering wheel but it doesn't seem too keen on me.

Hopefully more info soon for you all, if you need airbags and extras the cost will skyrocket out of control. I hope BMW keep a llid on the costs, but i don't hold my breath.

Been told that you do not need new airbag with the M wheels that we have. But extra cabling...I think I may just skip this. Installation is not going to be cheap.

As for seat, I do want to change my seat for track use down the track. And for insurance purpose when I drive on the road, this may be the only option. But $4k? Is it CF backed? I don't even think it is!

If I can retrofit bixenon headlights into my 325 and also rip half my interior out to put in a bmw ipod kit, installing a steering wheel would be a piece of CAKE!

I dont even have a garage!!

Haha maybe for you, but I am hopeless at those things. I guess this is why having a BMW specialist (like Seb on the Tex) is fantastic!

i once almost started crying installing my coffee cup in the cupholder....sorry, i'm just not that smart, but i still want to have an alcantara sci-fi steering wheel. i guess that is why dealerships routinely rip me off....

Bwahahahaha! That is funny professor. Good to know there is at least one person who is worst than me when it comes to install! I did my own install for a CAI on my Cooper S years ago. First and last install as far as I remember.

wouldn't it make sense for dealers to offer a tradein value for anyone wanting the performance wheels separate from a retrofit value? oh no wait, that would make it cheaper.

The short shifter kit/knob looks the best value in my opinion.

I think the short shifter cost $350 and the knob another $150? Not too bad if the shift is long, but I think in this case it actually isn't too bad. Don't know, not going to do this until I drive the car. The knob looks great though.

I wonder how much it will cost to swap over to the Tii wheels from the standard 18s? Anyone have a guess? Are they much lighter?

Check this site out. It has prices for most of the performance parts. The wheels appear to be about $3000 with tyres.

Not a fan of the seats or the steering wheel. And the wheels are a bit nasty too (imagine cleaning them!)
