Could I have the last 2008 1
They tell me that I'm scheduled for week 31. I now see that my status on the BMW web sight is "'scheduled for production".
I'm picking the car ED on 8/28... Could I be the last??? |

I tried to pull the stunt, but it gets really complicated, also you must be really close to a guy up there in Leipzig or BMWNA. You see, the production line in Leipzig is for 1 series not only for US and the yr1ofthe1 labeling is only for the US (hah haH- they know how bain we are). I will give you a hint...not necessary true, but if your car will be the last on production on July 31...then there is a very good probability that your car is the last of 08. Darn, i just miss it! But at least I know my car belongs to the last of the mohicans!! Car to be completed July 30. Week 31 it is.

My salesman said that they aren't officially starting the 09 production run until September 1st, but the plant is only closed for 2 weeks in August. This is what he was told, and it even confused the hell out of him, because it meant when the plant opened back up, they would produce 08's for 2 more weeks.....
August is a BIG vacation month in Germany though, so that might explain the close down more than a retool, because, really, what is changing? :iono: |

I believe Europe goes by the calendar year, not a "model year". So, somebody in Germany is going to take delivery of an '08 in January '09, based on the build date.

My ED is 9/26/08 and my car is in production to be completed by 7/29. I still can't figure out when they are starting to build '09s and if it is the first week in September, why is mine not an '09?

In Europe the production year for BMW starts 1 September as well. So my car being built in week 36 which is the first week of September is an 09, both in terms of spec and price. Also in Belgium it will be registered as an 09 despite being delivered in September 08. Production date is everything.

My CA just told me that it looks like mine is being finished right now and will go to a storage lot for the next couple of weeks.
Step by step, inch by inch..

Leasing agent found me one yesterday that's on the ship, was originally headed for South Carolina. Not the last SGM built, but maybe the last SGM built that wasn't already spoken for. :P
