did you buy the alarm? you only get sound confirmation if you have the alarm installed.

Not sure if anyone has tried to install it on an e90 yet, but it should be similar to the e46, but no promises.

The alarm is under $300, and i think another $150 to install. I am getting it in my car whenever that is. I'm pretty sure another thread was going around talking about the chirp, and was deduced that unless you had the alarm, no blinking or chirping.

Rachel, those functions are not yet available, even with the alarm installed. That is, they can be done but the dealer probably did not have the software to make those settings changes when you picked up your car. Apparently the software update to do these things and some others became available just this week. Talk to your dealer to find out more.

When I unlock my doors, I get a light confirmation. When I lock my doors, the only confirmation I get is the sound of the lock going down but no lights.

Dumb question...but I would have assumed that an alarm was standard...at least on the 330i...is it not? Seriously...this is an option? I didn't see that that was the case in any of the literature (online configuration).

Yes, this is an option for the 330i (well in Canada anyways). The "Stealership" wants $900 CAD for the alarm system which includes install. Can't be a difficult install when the car is pre-wired for it all! If you're unsure that you have an alarm, sit in it arm it and move around. Our 330i has a motion sensor (told to me by my salesperson). If that doesn't work, arm it, then open the doors from the inside. That should set off the alarm.

i read in the manual that in order to engage the pathway lighting, you have to flash the high beams once after shutting the engine off and prior to getting out of the car. i've never tried it, but i'm pretty sure that's what i read in the manual.
