First track event of the year

What better way to start the year than taking the 1M to the track? Had a wonderful time around the Homestead Grand Am course (uses turns 3 and 4 of the oval). This car is definitely too fun to drive.

Here's some video of the day.

Nice run! I couldn't see your speedo but how fast were you going on the banking and the straight section of the main track?

Nice and clean. What mods if any?

Thanks. On the banking I was doing about 115 - 120. At the end of the main straight about 135 - 140.

Hi Ayrton,
What group did you do this track day with? I was scheduled to do one Saturday with "hooked on driving" but Lamborghini apparently rented the track out from under them for the next two weeks so it got canceled; a buddy of mine with a modded 135 are trying to find one at hsr ASAP? What was the cost?
Thanks,
Spencer

Super impressive then, both for you as the driver and for the 1M. GOOD JOB.

Spencer, this was Nasa FL's first event of 2013. Nasa FL alternates its events (about 6-7 a year) between Homestead and Sebring. Next Homestead event is on March 23 and 24. Check out http://drivenasafl.com for the schedule and fees (it's about $270 for one day or $399 for the full weekend, they have a discount promo if you are completely new to Nasa). I've been doing track days with Nasa for the past couple years and they are really good, safe and well organized and have a good "ladder" towards actual racing.

Have you done track days before?

Thanks man. The car is definitely amazing. After the first track session at the drivers download meeting everybody was commenting on how impressive it is. I try to alternate the track time between the 1M and a Focus SVT, but for some reason I keep spending more and more time in the 1M...

I've done 1.5 track days, did two last year but got rained out at lunch on one and looking to continue doing more, do they structure the days with beginner/ intermediate classes?

I just looked and looks like a better deal especially if I get a first timer discount, how many sessions will you expect in a day and how long? The company I did it with I think it was 4 20 minute and a 40 minute session, so if it's similar time on track it's far better but all those groups have to limit the track time?

Nasa has a 4 level HPDE program based on skill and experience. Check out this (http://www.drivenasafl.com/driving/hpde/ for more details.

Each HPDE group gets four driving sessions in a day (three 20 min and one 25 min for a total of 85 minutes of driving time in a day.

Hope this help and that we'll get to meet at the next Homestead event.
