NPC SMFW flywheel with 550i clutch?
So i recently purchased my car a few months ago, clutch throw was at the top and pretty small..
so i'm assuming it was nearly out.. ran the car on e60ish, putting down a bit over 300rwkw with my mods.. clutch started slipping after a few weeks It currently has a NPC SMFW, and a NPC heavy duty organic clutch.. Is there any reason a 550i clutch will not mate to a SMFW, in particular a NPC one? is there anything they could've done differently to not allow this, as the 550i suits my needs perfectly rather then going for another aftermarket clutch. NPC is located in brisbane and when i rang them, they weren't to sure if the SMFW would mate to a 550i clutch and tried selling me the same clutch that's already in the car, which i'm not really interested in So pretty much Anyone have any idea whether the 550i clutch will mate to my flywheel after i get it machined Thanks, Danny |

The 550i clutch disc works best with a dual mass flywheel. It is a solid hub and will be quite bad on a single mass.
You really want an aftermarket sprung hub clutch disc to absorb some of the vibration, otherwise you'll face some pretty bad chatter. You'd have to ask NPC if their flywheels are just designed to work together with their own parts. Or if the individual parts are drop in replacements for the stock parts.

I'm surprised the NPC is slipping as they generally make great clutches. How old is the organic clutch?
