In a year's time, we will look back at this poll and see who is correct!
And to keep the options simple, this is for the North American market only, of course. Also, please keep discussions to a minimum; there are already many other threads for that. (We'll also see if we can influence BMW AG/NA to reconsider their decision, if they have already made up their minds.)

cars are getting heavier bigger, so we need bigger engines to compensate. The E90 3series is as big as a E34 5 series 10 years ago.(in short) that's why BMW made the 1 series(as a 'new' 3 series sort of) And we as customers want more space/safety/luxury/pace. And we are 'growing'with our 3 series....That's the way marketing wants us to. Every carmanufacturer does this more or less.
So a 335 will be situated above the 330 to fill the gap between the 330(258BHP) and oncoming M3(400+BHP) |

After reading all the posts on this subject, I strongly believe that in the North American market, the models will be
323i (Canada) 328i / xi 335i / xi Here is my reasoning to some questions. 1) The E90 has only been out for 1 year. Is it too soon for a change? The E90 has been out in Europe for 2 years. It's time for change. 2) Will BMW NA offer 323i (Canada), 325i, 330i and 335i? I highly doubt it. That would completely saturate the North American market. I don't think BMW Canada would offer 4 sedans and I doubt BMW USA would offer 3 sedans. Don't forget, there's still the E90 wagon, coupe, and convertible. I just don't see BMW NA offering so many choices. In Canada, it used to be 320i and then 325i. With the 323i, the number 323 and 325 are too close together. I'm sure BMW Canada will want to separate them more. 323i and 328i provides a good numerical gap between the two numbers. So what if you already bought an E90? Just be happy. I see some people who bought a pre-Sept E90 complaining about missing features. Don't forget, you paid LESS for your E90. BMW NA took this into consideration, that's why they raised the price AFTER Sept. If you have a 325i or 330i, be happy because you are paying LESS. When the 328i and 335i arrive, there will obviously be a price increase!

Every time I want to let this go, someone makes a comment to which I simply must reply. The features that are lacking in the pre-September builds are not missing because there was a strategy to add features and raise the price. They are missing because BMW did not have those features finished when they released the car. The price change would have occured anyway, and has nothing to do with this. Obviously I can live with it, but it still pisses me off on principle. I have one of each, so I know exactly what is different, and it is 100% software. This would be easy enough to retrofit, but they will not. They rushed the car to market before everything was ready. OK, so I took the bait and bought one. I still maintain that it is a bad business decision to us early buyers "too bad".

Is this question regarding the coupe or sedan? They may be different for at least a year. Also, is this in the US or Europe? The line-up is normally different between the two.
My prediction for the US '07 coupe/sedan models: 328ci, 335ci, 325i, 325xi, 330i, 330xi. My prediction for the US '08 coupe/sedan: 328ci, 335ci, 328i, 328xi, 335i, 335xi, M3 coupe and sedan (staggered release) US '09 or '10: Model year refresh. Slightly changed look to renew interest. Possible addition of DI to engine giving a few more HP for the refresh. Similar to e46 refresh. Last edited by 3aficionado; 11-19-2005 at 04:08 PM.. |

It was clear long time ago that NA market will get 323/328/335 all across sooner or later. With introduction of 2.5L 323 model in Canada back in Sept 2005 it doesn't make sense to carry 323/325 combo with that close numbering...
So my prediction: 2007 MY 328Ci (3.0L 235-240HP), 335Ci (3.5L 310-320HP), 323i (Canada only, 2.5L 185-190HP), 328i, 335i Getting turbo for Europe and Asia only makes sense since large volume engines have extra premium in tax and very unpopular or should I say rare. |
