1st drive in a while
Drove my 1er for the first time in nearly 6 weeks when I took my missus and daughter to the airport today. 260 kms return. Took opportunity for a little 170 kph blast on way back. Great way to wake yourself up when you are feeling drowsy.
Forgot how much fun this thing is.....

I know what you mean. Just spent 2 weeks touring Tassie in the d4d playdo. Great car for what we did and averaged 9.1l/100 over the 5500kms!! However, it was like riding a blue whale on valium bareback.
Jumping into the hairdryed mangled 1 (hoping of course that it would start lol) was fun. Roller Skate with East German attitude! |

Glad you had a good trip to the small island. Wow 9.1 l/100km, that's great for a 2+ tonne truck.
I averaged about 11.1 on my D3 over 11,500kms on my Cape York trip. Normally it does between 10.8 to 10.9, but the car was fully loaded and there was a lot of off roading. OT: here is a picture of it about to ford the Daintree River. BTW, I was croc aware.... And a pic of me doing the infamous Gunshot Creek crossing - the hard way.

I've heard about that gunshot crossing on the playdo website. Lots of pics of where it all goes pear shaped - lol.
You are a very brave / skilled boy! Did Britain's finest behave itself? |

I wouldn't have attempted it if I was alone, but these was another vehicle there with a winch (which was required as I got bogged in the mud hole).
Britain's finest came through with flying colours. Many times I was amazed at it's ability to get through seemingly impossible obstacles, it was too easy. Damage: 1 missing mud flap, 1 broken mudflap, 1 broken grille clip, electric handbrake not working, 1 missing front number plate. Excellent IMO considering I showed it no mercy.

Nope no missus on the passanger seat, left the 'handbrake' at home . It was just a mate from Melbourne and myself on the trip.
