I believe Bavarian Autosport carries two little black decals (among other colors) that overlay the blue portion of the roundel.

Isn't there something correct about the black over the blue? Something about BMW motor sports history. I remember Hugo saying something about this awhile back.

Does not BMW define their corporate identity, what the company logo should be, appear? Just asking.:iono::wink:

I wouldn't buy the decal overlay, they make black and whites aftermarket one.
I also though it was the sky and propeller. http://www.logoblog.org/bmw_logo.php

Nope - the sky and propeller was an attempt by internal PR in the 1920s to add meaning to a logo that came out of the Bavarian flag and a bit of re-use from the Rapp Motor Works logo (one of the companies that became BMW). BMW GmbH was incorporated on July 20, 1917, BTW. (Source, "The BMW Story: A Company in Its Time", Horst Monnich)

I have been looking for one of the old emblems like one of these for the front, back and steering wheel. I thought I saw one for sale somewhere on the interweb, but cannot find it now. Has anyone seen this?

You can purchase the Roundel Overlays to go over the blue portion or white portion, depending on what you want to replace. No need to paint the stock emblems.

I have a set of black overlays left!
Anyway, I've been looking A LONG TIME for pure black and white. I ordered it a long while back for my e34, but then come time for the e39, I could only find the overlays OR stupid carbon fiber black/white. What happened to them? For the 1, I just broke down and bought a set of overlays (one set covers a little more than two cars).
