NEED HELP!
Looking to find out how much people have gotten used 135s for monthly. my parents have set a 400 dollar cap on my monthly car payment and i really want a 135. Is there anyway i can get a used 135 for this monthly payment? Is it realistic?

I think it is possible, but you'll have to find one with quite a bit of mileage. Target just under $24K, some $ down, and low interest rate. A 128 would fit better in your budget. I bet a 128 with MT would be just as fun. Good luck
BTW...easier if your parents are willing to put more $ down to help. Butter up your pops and tell him he can drive it once and awhile

That's the going rate at my Credit Union...with excellent credit rating. So, yeah probably unrealistic if you dont have access to a Credit Union. That said, more $ down and 3+% might be possible.

RICH hes looking for a 400$ a month car payment.. I go to cars and coffee in St pete and there is a group of kids driving 200k + cars..
You have a 2010 GTI... Finish school and buy a NICE car when you nail that first job..

One other thing to consider is insurance. I imagine the 135i is going to be somewhat higher insurance than the GTI (especially if you are younger than 25).

you speak the truth. My insurance is more that the budget for your car payment. I'm 23 with a clean driving history. I go through USAA.

You're tempted to do this (probably) because of the obvious guaranteed money-in-hand. Ask to see if you can get that $400/month to go towards an investment.

Dude, keep your GTI for now and ante up for a better ride down the road, or trade over to a 07 STI or an Evo and dump a few grand into some safe Stage 2.5 upgrades. You obviously have the desire to tune and get more power from your car, and if you get a BMW, you're going to end up voiding the warranty and then you'll be up shit creek when you get a CEL. The first thing you will think is that you need MOAR POWER and that just shouldn't be your priority when your parents are footing the bill for your car, insurance, and presumably, your mods.
IMO, if you want power, since that seems to be why you are abandoning your almost-new and modded GTI, go with a car that is a bit more oriented toward younger drivers and which is more tune-friendly. Not saying the 1er isn't good for this, but it's a high entry price for a car that really provides the best peace of mind when you HAVE a warranty. For older drivers, mods are more feasible, but for someone younger, modifying this type of car is a bit of a financial gamble. Go with an Evo or a WRX/STI. There is a lot more power to be extracted easily from those cars, and you won't look like a tool driving one since I assume you are still a teenager. Plus, with AWD, you'll be far less likely to wrap it around a pole when you show off to your passenger only to lose the back end of the car and then over-correct a few times before losing control. Trust me, this is coming from a 24 year-old who just got into a BMW after having numerous mod-friendly cars beforehand. I'm still getting used to driving a car that much of society believes is reserved for 40-somethings (at least, where I live...), but I've come a ways since I was 19 and driving cars that were honestly beyond my means and maturity. The STI I had before this was a MUCH better platform for heavy modification, and it suited my age much better. I'd have kept it if the cards had played out a bit differently. You get the BMW when you decide that power isn't everything, and that comfort and being taken seriously by people around you is something you are ready for. But no one will take you seriously in a 1er when you're still in H.S. or even college, IMO. |
