New 135i owner saying hello and have a couple noob questions!
Hey everyone! I've had my 2009 135i MT M-sport package coupe for a couple weeks now and I'm simply loving it. I live in Los Angeles and found this beauty with only a little over 11,000 miles on it! I graduated from a 2006 Mazdaspeed6 which was a great quick car after intake, exhaust and tune.
I have a noob question here, how do I find out what model car I have? I'm guessing it's a E82 correct? So far after reading over all the options to keep my warranty it looks like the best bang is a Dinan setup, is this correct? Thanks everyone! 1-30-2012 added pics in a post below Last edited by Kazar; 01-30-2012 at 09:21 PM.. |

You are correct in that you are the proud owner of a BMW E82. And you are also correct that DINAN is the only aftermarket company that will not void your BMW warranty. Albeit very expensive, DINAN is the best!
Congrats on your new car and welcome to 1ADDICTS!

Nice! I'm glad there is a BMW dealership that does Dinan stuff nearby (the dealership where I purchased my car). I should have added stuff that day and wrapped it into the monthly price, LOL!
Being my car is a 2009 with only 11K miles on it the warranty is coming up so I need to extend that. This is also why I need to do upgrades that won't void my warranty! Ohhhh boy! I'd like to do the following:

OMG! Here we go again...aftermarket parts will not void your warranty. OP, Dinan is very good but expensive. EG...best bang for your buck on tunes is JB4 or Cobb. There are many reputable companies for down pipes, exhaust, FMIC, filters, etc...please research and check www.sema.org.
FYI...they should make a sticky, please read: http://www.sema.org/sema-enews/2011/...ermarket-parts

Dinan parts will actually void your BMW warranty, but Dinan offers an equivalent warranty if BMW chooses not to cover you due to Dinan parts, albeit without the option of an extended warranty. Intake and exhaust (other than downpipes) really won't void anything. BMW will make a note of it, but they have to prove that your mods directly caused the problem you're experiencing. Intake and exhaust really won't cause any such problems. With a Cobb, JB4, or procede tune, you can erase any fault codes causes by them, and remove the tunes before service. Dinan is a great tune as well, but due to the warranty tends to be expensive. There is a lot of good info on this site, and much has been covered, so the search function is your best friend, even for very specific questions. Welcome, and congrats on the car! Post some pictures!

Yes dinan tunes will cause BMW na to not cover engine work under warranty. The idea is the dinan BMW dealer does the work and bills dinan. The two issues with that is not every dealer works with dinan and rumors are BMW is about ready to wring dinans neck due to tunes on the turbocharged cars so things may very well change in the future.

Well, it was a full show car 9yrs ago... it was in a bunch of magazines and such, had a hotwheels car made of it. But yeah, it's a little too much for me to. At least he's the type that drives it, even if it's raining!
