Tyre recommendation
Hi guys, it's the first time I need to replace tyres on my car, going non-RFT and 225F/255R
I'm looking for ride comfort and durability. At the moment I have these quotes (ordered by what I was told was the best price/quality) Pirelli PZERO - $1300 Nito INVO - ~$1000 Continental Contisport 5 - $1105 Michelin PS3 - $1250 What should I go for? cheers Last edited by trap; 09-20-2015 at 08:54 PM.. |

the pirelli's or conti's would get my vote
conti's always perform well along with the pirelli's (I've had p zeros and sport contacts in the past both great tyres imo) http://www.tyrereviews.co.uk/Article...-Tyre-Test.htm http://www.tyrereviews.co.uk/Article...-Tyre-Test.htm |

If you're looking for durability I would stay away from the P-Zero. Had those exact sizes on my 135i. I think they lasted 7000km.
I use PS3 on my M3 and they're great. |

Not considering PSS? They are generally reviewed to be the best high performance street tyre on the market. Supposed to be very civilized as well. Exxy though.

Yeah I know about the PSS but they were hard to get and expensive...
Thanks all for the comments. I went ahead and bought the PZEROs (corrected the price on the first post as they were a big more expensive), the difference with the RFT is incredible! cheers |

I love my PS3's. I've had them on the e46 and the e82. I've found their wet traction excellent, dry traction excellent, and steering feel just awesome. Plus they're fairly cheap at $300 a corner on average. They're wearing well after 12k km.
The Contis get excellent reviews, but I thought they were similar in calibre to PSS but not quite as good.

I got some Falken AZENIS Fk453 after having P-zero runflats.
I think the falkens are a bit grippier, not much difference really, they were $1200 for 4 including fitting and balance. |

Nitto Invo is bang for buck.. Had them previously. Far enough grip for the street, okay in the rain unless you're absolutely smashing it lol - Comfortable and quiet also, for the price, can't complain. (awesome tread pattern too lol)
Currently on PS3's, can't say they're much better than Invos in the dry, but in the wet definitely better. They're fairly thicker than the Invos also. Comfort is probably about the same.. Can't comment on tread life yet as I'm not done with the PS3's, but the invos lasted me 2 track days and about 1.5 years ~25k km's. For the price I'd probably go with the invos, don't see a big difference in performance between them and the PS3's. |

Have to disagree, the invos are awesome in the rain especially when cutting through large puddles and water on the road.
One of the best tyres on the market for street use, hell I use to run them at the drags with no problems and plenty of grip. |

I've driven on/owned 3/4 of those tyres on the list. I personally rate them like this.
Conti > Michelin > Invo the conti seem to grip even with little to no tread have a lower rolling resistance than the Pilot sport and are quieter and more comfortable. I love the Michelin Pilot Sport 3 for the grip (got a full set in your sizes for $1100 aligned) Invos get pretty noisy and loose grip after a while. I currently have Federal 595 RSR on my 130i and they hook up well and for the price you definitely can't complain. |

I rate V105 and AD08R. Wasn't a fan of the P Zero stuff I tried, RE001/2/3 also weren't that impressive.

I now have AD08Rs which I'm quite happy about. Definitely more grip. Haven't had them for as long but my lap times are getting better.

So hard to make a decision.. currently on PSS and I'm not that impressed, but definitely don't want to take a backwards step with my next tyre selection.

My point of view is somewhat skewed, I can't remember the ever having a set of tyres for longer than 10,000kms. |
