Actually it seems like they've been tightening up on it over the last year or so as it's gained popularity. There's a website that keeps up with it all. A Google search will bring it up. I wouldn't go screaming through there, but it's still supposed to be a nice drive. I've driven a lot of the roads in those mountains, and honestly it isn't hard to find one off the beaten track that's just as good. |

There is no other road like this that I know of. I lived in Knoxville for 7 years and never found one crookeder(is that a word?)There are several turns in which you can read your own license plate. People wreck there all the time. If you know and stay within your limits it is a great drive. It is really tight. If you like fast sweepers then there are better roads.(Natahalla Skyway)YOMV

You don't need the Dragon, you've got the Kettle Morraine Scenic Drive!
Here's a writeup I did of it: http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/show...ghlight=kettle |

Tail of the Dragon looks to be quite the appealing road, reminds me of my current favorite ride, 238 to Grants Pass. What is the law-enforcement presence? Lots of cops, few and far between?

This is in the middle of nowhere, in the western part of the Great Smoky Mountains. Lots of motorcycles travel just to ride it. The ride on US 74 through Ocoee and Nantahalla just south of this are a blast, as long as you don't catch up to a truck going through them. Beautiful country!
